At Interhuman AI, we’re building the social intelligence layer for AI. Our mission is to enable machines to understand how humans actually behave – not just what we say. We’re pioneering a new class of multimodal AI that reads facial expressions, voice, and body language to interpret social signals, delivering AI interactions that feel truly adaptive and emotionally aware.
We’re a small but ambitious team (backed by top investors) with a working prototype, early paying customers, and a vision to become essential infrastructure in the future of conversational AI. The role
We’re looking for a person who can inspire and empower developers while representing their needs internally. As our first Developer Relations (DevRel) hire, you will own and grow our developer community and experience from the ground up. If you’re excited about being the bridge between a breakthrough AI product and the developers who will bring it to life, this is your moment to shine.
In this role, you will wear multiple hats (community builder, educator, advocate) to make our social intelligence API feel “like magic” for developers building the next generation of conversational AI, EdTech, training applications - and someday - maybe even robots.
What You’ll Do
- Define and lead DevRel strategy: Develop our plan for engaging and growing a developer ecosystem – from positioning (how we speak to developers) to initiatives (docs, events, support channels) and everything in between. You’ll work directly with founders to set goals and will be trusted to experiment with new ideas.
- Build top-notch documentation & content: Write and maintain clear developer docs and API guides that make it easy to get started. Create tutorials, sample apps, and possibly video or blog content that actually helps developers. Your content will show developers how to integrate our AI into their projects and spark ideas for what’s possible.
- Nurture and engage our developer community: Be an active presence where our developers are – whether that’s our Discord server, GitHub discussions, Stack Overflow, X, or other forums. Answer questions, share tips, and foster a welcoming, inclusive community. Over time, you’ll identify and mentor community champions.
- Developer support & advocacy: Work closely with our early adopters and SDK integration partners. Help them troubleshoot issues, gather their feedback, and champion their needs. You’ll essentially be the voice of the developer internally – translating feedback into actionable insights for our product and engineering teams. (If a feature is confusing or an API endpoint is missing, you’ll make sure we know!)
- “Build in public” & open source: Contribute to our open-source repositories and encourage external contributions. Share your journey and learnings in public where appropriate (e.g. write about a challenge you solved with our API). This helps build trust and transparency with developers.
- Represent Interhuman AI externally: Be our developer evangelist at virtual and (eventually) in-person events. This could mean giving a talk at a meetup or conference, running a webinar, or participating in online panel discussions about AI/developer tools. You don’t need to be a keynote speaker from day one, just excited to share and engage. We’ll support you with opportunities to raise awareness of our platform.
- Shape the end-to-end developer journey: Continuously improve the experience developers have, from the moment they hear about us to their first successful integration. You’ll refine onboarding flows, make sure our error messages or API docs are developer-friendly, and work with our UX/UI team on developer-facing interfaces. Essentially, you’re ensuring that using our API is intuitive, pleasant, and fast for devs.
Of course ou won’t be doing all of this alone forever. As we grow, you’ll help shape the DevRel team (e.g. bringing in additional advocates, technical writers, etc.). In the early days, you’ll prioritize the most critical needs first – and we’ll work together to focus your efforts where they matter most.
What we’re looking for
You might be a great fit for this role if you meet some or all of the following:
- Developer-first mindset: You love building things for developers and with developers in mind. You have a knack for taking something complex and making it approachable and exciting for a developer audience.
- Experience in DevRel or similar fields: You have prior experience in Developer Relations, Developer Advocacy, or developer-focused marketing/education. Alternatively, you might have been a technical founder or early-stage engineer who naturally took on the role of engaging a developer community for your product. You understand the rhythms of developer communities and the fundamentals of what makes developers adopt (or abandon) a tool.
- Community building: You’ve been involved in building or growing a developer community before. Maybe you moderated a popular forum, managed a Discord/Slack group, organized meetups, or maintained an open-source project with contributors. You know how to engage developers and foster a sense of community.
- Solid coding skills: You don’t need to be a software architect, but you do need to code well enough to build functional demos, sample integrations, and debug basic issues. Ideally, you have experience with modern web or AI programming – for example, building apps in JavaScript/TypeScript (React, Next.js) or Python or other common stacks.
- Public presence & interpersonal skills: You’re comfortable being an advocate and “face” of a product in developer circles. This doesn’t mean you’re an extrovert 24/7 – just that you enjoy interacting with people. You’re happy to help someone out on a forum, jump on a call to guide a partner, or speak on a podcast about what we’re doing. Likewise, you work well with internal teams – from engineers to product managers – and can collaborate to get things done.
- Empathy and user-focus: You care deeply about the experience of developers. You’re always thinking from the perspective of a developer-user: Is this API method confusing? What tutorial would help here? What pain points might they have integrating this? This empathy drives you to continually improve our documentation, support, and product.
- Entrepreneurial ownership: Since you’ll be our first DevRel, we’re looking for someone who takes initiative and can thrive in a blank-canvas environment. You’re excited to own the developer relations domain – and while that’s a big responsibility, it also means you get to shape the strategy. You’re the kind of person who, when you see something that could be better, you take it on and make it happen. And importantly, you’re adaptable: in a startup, you know priorities can evolve, and you’re willing to adjust course based on where you see the most impact.
