Business Developer (Principal) for Deep Tech AI Accelerator

The BioInnovationInstitute (BII) is scoping and standing up a new accelerator program focused on leading-edge, deep tech AI technologies. The program aims to attract AI start-ups, both from Denmark and abroad, by offering an extremely supportive ecosystem where companies can develop and commercialize cutting-edge AI solutions, in particular those with a particular focus on those of relevance for Danish industry. The accelerator will provide mentoring and guidance from leading experts and researchers in AI to help start-ups mature their technology and reach the market.
The Job
As our new Business Principal, you will work very closely with a small but growing team of Business Developers and colleagues at the BioInnovation Institute (BII), more specifically at DeepTech Lab (DTL), to screen, select, and support early-stage start-ups and spinouts based on AI and AI-enabling technologies. In the initial phase, you will be involved in the creation of the Program and support activities related to standing up the AI Accelerator at BII’s facilities. Once operational, you will be involved in all aspects of selecting and developing the companies as far as their respective teams, business cases, and technologies are concerned.
Your tasks will include the following:
- Co-developing and refining an Accelerator Program for early-stage start-ups and spinouts based on leading-edge AI.
- Be the anchor person for the start-ups and spinouts and facilitate the development of the teams, the business case, and the technology.
- Assist the companies in establishing connections to potential customers, collaborators, and partners, including funding sources, both in Denmark and abroad.
Professional and Personal Spirit
We are seeking a Business Principal with extensive experience and a proven track record in developing deep tech start-ups and spinouts, ideally from a similar position. Candidates with a relevant educational background in fields such as computer science, data science, AI, physical sciences, or engineering, combined with operational or managerial experience in deep tech, will be preferred.
In addition, we expect you to have the following:
- A comprehensive understanding of the nature and culture of science and innovation in the context of deep tech.
- Experience with data/computer science and AI, including collaboration with venture programs or AI-focused start-ups.
- An appreciation and awareness of current developments and trends within AI technologies, both in terms of technological advancements and market dynamics.
- Strong business development skills and experience in scouting for new opportunities in the AI/deep tech sector.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, especially in English, as you will be engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.
Besides thriving in helping deep tech founders and early-stage deep tech companies succeed, you see yourself as a strong project manager, having a structured approach to problem-solving and the ability to both work within a team as well as independently. Maintaining high professionality and integrity while consistently delivering at a high quality is key to you.
