Biomaterials Engineer or Material Scientist - Innovate Asphalt with Sustainable Biomaterials
Join Visibuilt during this pivotal growth phase as we revolutionize the asphalt industry with the world's first fermentation-based asphalt binder. Our innovative technology replaces traditional fossil fuel-based asphalt binders with eco-friendly biological alternatives, driving a more sustainable future. After securing significant investments, we are now expanding and searching for an innovative Biomaterials Engineer or Material Scientist to further improve the mechanical properties of our visiBIT-based pavement prototypes in Høje Taastrup, near Copenhagen.
You Will Thrive In This Role If The Following Points Resonate With You:
- You're a hands-on experimenter with a strong inclination towards practical tasks who enjoys the challenge of testing hypotheses and seeing real-world applications of your work.
- Your mind is wired for creativity; you seek connections, explore different perspectives, and are driven by exploring new solutions.
- You're excited to join a growing start-up transitioning to scale-up, where flexibility and pragmatism are key to success.
- You flourish in fast-paced, entrepreneurial settings emphasizing quick decision-making within a flat, agile, and nearly bureaucracy-free organization.
- You thrive in collaborative teams where challenging ideas are encouraged, and where diverse perspectives are valued.
- We focus on creating an inspiring and collaborative work culture, where we encourage and support the personal development of each individual.
Your Primary Responsibilities Will Be:
- Enhancing the mechanical properties of visiBIT in our visiPAVE sustainable asphalt prototypes to meet the asphalt industry's requirements.
- Continuously develop and evaluate new recipes and processing methods in close collaboration with our R&D, Fermentation, and Production teams to optimize prototypes for mechanical properties, scalability, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
- Keep an overview of multiple parallel experiments and multiple projects.
A Few Must-Have Technical Requirements:
To succeed in the position, we expect you to:
- Minimum have a bachelor's degree in (bio) Materials Science, (bio) Material Engineering, or a related field.
- Have 1-3 years of practical hands-on experience with enhancing the mechanical properties of biomaterials.
- Be ready to engage physically at our lab, production, and test facilities in Høje Taastrup, near Copenhagen, Denmark.
In addition to these minimum requirements, the ideal candidate has hands-on experience with material characterization techniques used in assessing the mechanical properties, strengths, and durability of biomaterials (e.g. stress-strain, compression, impact tests as well as material fatigue and failure modes).
Work-hours & Compensation
We are looking for a full-time employee (37 hours per week) or a part-time employee (minimum 32 hours per week). The salary will be slightly below market value, but with the prospect of other incentive schemes.
In addition, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including:
