The Translational Pharmacology department at Zealand has an open position for a Research Scientist with experience within in vivo pharmacology as well as ex vivo technologies. The successful candidate will have an interest in working in our established research projects and actively contribute to expanding our portfolio of new early research projects. Support to our clinical projects will also be a part of the job.
As a Scientist in Translational Pharmacology, you will be part of a dedicated team of 19 people consisting of scientists, lab technologists, animal technologists and student assistants. The department is responsible for generating pre-clinical pharmacodynamic in vivo data and mechanistic ex vivo data that can support decision making in our projects and ensure translation to future clinical trials.
Responsibilities
Support to our established research project as Study Director for in-house pharmacology studies and CRO studies. This entails planning, coordination, execution, and reporting of in vivo/ex vivo studies in collaboration with internal/external stakeholders. The position will also require an interest for identifying new potential drug targets and on that background suggest new early research projects.
The successful candidate will be excited by working in teams with talented scientists from other disciplines (e.g., Molecular Pharmacology, Bioanalysis, Pharmaceutical Development and Medical Science). You should therefore possess strong collaborative and written/verbal communication skills and be adept at building partnerships.
Candidate Experience
- Ph.D. in pharmacology or a related discipline of biomedical research.
- FELASA certificate
- Preferable + 2 years postdoc experience (both young and experienced candidates can apply).
- Experience in drug discovery from industry or biotech will be an advantage.
- Scientific knowledge within the metabolic disease area including obesity, dyslipidemia, diabetes, and metabolic comorbidities.
- Experience in developing and working with animal models.
- Experience with indirect calorimetry (TSE) and HM2 feeding system
- Strong scientific approach and statistical analysis skills.
- Experience within different ex vivo techniques (e.g. work with primary cells and their culture, cell lines, organoids and biomarker analysis by flow cytometry, ELISA based assays, COBAS or other relevant methods.
- Confident in interpretation, reporting and publication of study results.
