Then we may have the perfect role for you at BioInnovation Institute (BII). The Science Strategy team is currently looking for an Associate who will be responsible for generating insight analysis and data deep dive to enable BII and its partners to drive innovation through the BII platform.

Together, we’ll identify groundbreaking research and set out its journey from academic discovery to the translation of impactful solutions, driving real-world change.
The Job
As Associate within Planetary Health Insights, you will be part of the Science Strategy team, working closely with scientific and business development colleagues to support initiatives aimed at advancing planetary health. You will play a crucial role in conducting research and analysis to identify emerging trends and opportunities in the academic landscape of Planetary Health. This will include evaluating new technological and scientific advancements in areas such as agriculture, food, energy, chemicals, and materials. You will collaborate strongly within team and cross-functionally to integrate the findings into BII workflows and support team members undertaking project sourcing and development. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in working with partners to identify challenges that need to be addressed and to contribute to the success of innovative solutions to address those challenges.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough scientific and market analyses to identify emerging trends in selected areas within Planetary Health, including but not limited to agriculture, food, energy, chemicals, and materials
- Provide clear and concise summary reports on scientific and commercial trends from big data sources, including public and proprietary databases
- Support the design and maintenance of processes applied for the analyses large data sets to define scientific, commercial, and market trends.
- Prepare presentations and reports of identified trends and opportunities to guide strategic decision making for internal portfolio sourcing and external innovation partners.
- Identify high-impact scientific centres, leading researchers and key opinion leaders in an area of interest.
- Collaborate strongly within team and cross-functionally to integrate the findings into BII workflows.

What you’ll bring:
In addition to recognizing yourself in the description above, we imagine that you bring a strong background in planetary health, with a particular focus on the academic landscape. Your understanding of the key scientific trends, research centers, and emerging opportunities within this field will be crucial in helping us drive forward innovative solutions.
- PhD in agricultural technology, biotechnology, bioengineering, food technology, food science, sustainability, or another field related to planetary health and bring 2+ years’ working experience in a relevant field,
- Alternatively, you hold a MSc degree and 4+ years’ experience in management consulting, venture capital, as business analysts or a related role with a focus on sustainability, biosolutions, bioindustrials, biotechnology or another relevant field,
- Expertise in conducting research and market trend analyses in a relevant business area, in order to identify emerging technologies, key industrial player and research hot spots,
- Expertise in handling and manipulating large datasets, understanding data variables and connecting the dots in various datasets,
- Excellent ability to understand, analyse and communicate research results, research projects, and research evaluations,
- English proficiency in written and oral communication.
Additional Strengths:
- Experience in standard data science and analytics tools such as R, Python, SQL, PowerBI and/or Tableau,
- Proactive and solution-oriented mindset with a strong eye for combining different academic disciplines into new, translational opportunities,
- Ability to prioritising activities based on project and business goals and needs,
- Previous experience in establishing collaboration with industry a/o investors is seen as a plus.
