Position Overview
We are seeking an innovative and driven Application Development Scientist / Cosmetic Formulator / Cosmetic Technician to join our team. You will play a critical role in unlocking the value proposition of our portfolio by developing new cosmetic formulations that showcase the unique capabilities of our upcycled coffee-based ingredients. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including technical sales, R&D, and marketing, to bring high-performance, sustainable personal care products to life.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulation Development: Continuously develop new cosmetic formulations using Kaffe Bueno’s proprietary upcycled ingredients (e.g., KAFFOIL®, KAFFIBRE®, KAFFAGE®).
- Performance Testing: Conduct efficacy and performance tests to assess the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and challenges of our ingredient portfolio.
- Technical Support: Provide technical assistance to the sales team and customers, troubleshooting formulation issues and helping to optimize product performance.
- Collaboration:
- Work with marketing to review and contribute to product documentation, including marketing collateral and technical data sheets.
- Partner with the R&D team to ensure that new products align with market needs and trends.
- Customer Engagement: Join the sales team on occasional customer visits and participate in trade fairs to showcase our ingredients and build relationships with potential clients.
- Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, or related field.
- Experience: 4+ years of experience in cosmetic formulation development, preferably with a focus on natural and sustainable ingredients.
Skills
- Deep understanding of cosmetic formulation, including emulsifiers, surfactants, and active ingredients.
- Familiarity with performance testing protocols – mainly for functionals, though actives is a plus (e.g., for skin, hair care).
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the technical know-how to troubleshoot formulation issues.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with natural ingredient applications and a strong interest in sustainability are highly valued.
