Senior Associate (Quantum) to the Venture Creation Department at BioInnovation Institute
Do you have a passion for deep tech innovation and a talent for coaching scientific founders? And are you excited about supporting start-ups and research teams that can accelerate the growth of a new quantum industry in Denmark?
Then we may have the perfect opportunity at the BioInnovation Institute, where we are seeking a Senior Associate to join the Venture Creation department within the Quantum team.
Your Opportunity to Join BII!
Established by the Novo Nordisk Foundation in 2018, BII promotes collaborative, interdisciplinary, research-based innovation in the Life Sciences, Quantum Science, and Deep Tech and helps build viable start-up companies to ensure that such innovations become widely available for the benefit of people and society.
As a Senior Associate in the Quantum team, you will be part of a small team committed to identifying, supporting, and scaling transformative science-based ventures. Together, you will help turn early-stage innovation into real-world impact - bringing science to life by bridging academia, industry, and funding to create lasting change.
In this role, you will play a key role in scouting, anchoring, and developing partnerships that strengthen BII’s position as a leading European incubator within quantum technology innovation. You will help identify promising startups and research-based technologies, support the evaluation of new opportunities, and work closely with the founders to build the strongest possible foundations for future successful companies.
Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Anchoring
- Support quantum startups through BII’s incubation programs — from application and selection to milestone delivery.
- Work closely with the founder teams to develop their strategy, network, roadmaps, organizations and funding plans.
2. Scouting and Pipeline Development
- Identify and evaluate early-stage opportunities within quantum hardware, algorithms and enabling technologies.
- Engage with founders and research teams to assess technological maturity, business potential, and alignment with BII’s offerings.
3. Partnerships and Ecosystem Building
- Develop and maintain partnerships with relevant stakeholders across the innovation ecosystem — including corporates, investors, public funding bodies, and research institutions.
- Represent BII at relevant conferences, events, and networks within quantum technology.
Professional & Personal Qualifications
We are looking for a colleague with an entrepreneurial mindset who is curious about emerging technologies and passionate about transforming cutting-edge science into viable businesses. You bring strong technical deep-tech experience, ideally gained from a senior role in a deep-tech startup or a similar environment. Besides this, we imagine that you bring the following competencies and skills:
- MSc or PhD in engineering, physics, or a related field; MBA or equivalent business experience is a plus.
- Additional experience and network within venture capital, startup mentoring, fundraising or deep tech productization is also a plus.
- Senior-level experience from a deep tech startup will be viewed as a strong plus.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to assess both technical and commercial potential of early-stage innovations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English and a natural networker.
- A team player with a collaborative and relationship-driven approach.
- Structured, independent, and comfortable managing multiple workstreams.
You see yourself as purpose-driven and motivated by contributing to a non-profit organization that is dedicated to bringing science to life.
