Director of Synthetic Biology / CTO
Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of this role is to lead Enzidia’s R&D operations to deliver industrial microbial strains and bioprocesses, while expanding Enzidia’s core platform with new workflows. Specifically, you will:
·     Lead efficient execution of multiple industrial strain development projects, working with other team members to deisgn optimal project plans and continuosly adjust priorities.
·     Expand core platform capabilities through creativity, collaboration, learning, and experimentation.
·     Lead the building of Enzidia’s new lab facilities and operations.
·     Play a major role in recruiting and training a world-class R&D team at Enzidia.
·     Play a major role in developing integrated business and technology development strategies for the company.
Qualifications
1.    You have strong industrial strain development experiences, both at the hands-on level and leadership level.
2.    You have performed most of the expected responsibilities at some capacity with great effectiveness.
3.    You have extensive knowledge in some combinations of: microbial synthetic biology, metabolic engineering, enzyme engineering, fermentation, high-throughput experiments, chemical analytics, big data management, machine learning, NGS.

Logistics:
1. Timeline. Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis. Most positions are expected to be filled between Nov. 2025 and Jan. 2026. The start time is between Dec. and Feb., with consideration for the candidate’s situations.
2. Location. Copenhagen is ranked as the world’s #1 most livable city. It is peaceful, harmonious, safe, family-friendly, with easily accessible green spaces. Enzidia’s R&D headquarter is chosen here for its innovation-conducive environment and dynamic biotech ecosystem.
3. Compensation. We pay well, so that you don’t need to look elsewhere. This comes in the form of base salary and equity (both subject to frequent performance-based raises), as well as relocation assistance and success bonuses.
Living in Denmark automatically comes with free healthcare, free education, generous parental leave, 25 days of annual paid holidays.
4. For international applicants: Denmark offers a straightforward residency permit process for international researchers and professionals. New expat researchers enjoy significant tax reduction for up to 7 years.
