About the role
Are you a passionate student in STEM eager to apply your skills in solving real-world challenges?
BASE life science is looking for 3-4 driven STEM students, currently in their 3rd year of undergraduate or 1st year of a master’s program, to join our AI and automation team on a part-time basis. This is a unique opportunity to work on innovative proof-of-concept projects within the life science industry, dedicating 12-20 hours per week with flexible scheduling around your exams. We are looking for the team to span the capabilities of a data scientist, data engineer and software developer.
As part of a small, dedicated unit, you will gain hands-on experience with a multitude of different technologies. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to interact with project managers, life science consultants, data scientists, cloud engineers, and software engineers across the globe, accelerating the development of state-of-the-art proof of concepts for the Life Science industry.
The right candidate will also get the opportunity to work directly on customer projects. This is a great opportunity to gain practical experience in cutting-edge technology and contribute to innovative projects in the Life Science field.
As a Junior Consultant your responsibilities include:
- Develop and improve AI solutions and products we deploy at our customers.
- Design and develop new innovative solutions together with our Life Science consultants that bring value to the Life Science Industry.
- Collaborate with our Cloud and Software Engineering teams to set up cloud services and develop production-grade solutions.

To be successful in this role, you have the following competences:
- Experience developing software or performing data science tasks in Python.
- Experience with other programming languages (e.g., Java and bash).
- Experience or a keen interest in working with LLMs (OpenAI/Google) and generative AI.
- Great problem-solving skills.
- Work with complex problems in a structured way and being a part of a team.
- Ability to communicate complex problems in a concise manner.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
