Agrobiomics looking for a skilled and dedicated Fermentation Scientist
Agrobiomics is a Danish startup founded in 2022 that develops biological solutions to tackle challenges in agriculture. This includes events and conditions accelerated by climate change, such as drought and salinity. As a young company, we are a vibrant, diverse team with a passion to deliver novel biological solutions for a sustainable world of tomorrow. Our first product is a biological solution based on a natural compound produced by fermentation.
Located in Copenhagen, with office and lab space at the BioInnovation Institute, we are looking for a motivated Fermentation Scientist to expand and join our R&D Team.
The role of the Fermentation Scientist includes but is not limited to:
- Design of fermentation optimization experiments (1L scale) to further identify conditions and factors that induces the production of specific natural compounds with the goal of establishing a robust fermentation method that reaches titers relevant for scale up.
- Hands on laboratory work to carry out the fermentations; from preparing the fermenters, media and strains, to running the fermenters and harvesting the resulting broth for further analysis and recovery.
- Preparing samples for downstream processing, analytics, dry cell weight etc.
- Analysis of obtained data to draw conclusions to guide next experiments.
- Being involved in Tech-transfer to be able to scale up production with CDMOs.
- Preparing of presentations with clear results and conclusions to present at internal meetings.
The person will work closely with and collaborate with the Fermentation Scientist, Analytical Chemist, Director of Process Development & Formulation, as well as the R&D Director.
A qualified candidate ideally has/is:
- A Master in Process Engineering, Fermentation Based Biomanufacturing from Technical University of Denmark or similar.
- 1-3 years of industrial experience in hands on optimizing fermentations for small compound production.
- Experience with working with Streptomyces fermentation and secondary metabolism.
- A PhD within fermentation, Streptomyces secondary metabolites or similar (a PhD is not required to apply)
- Deep understanding of biochemistry and microbial physiology.
- Motivation to join a startup where everyone helps each other out to succeed.
- A flexible mindset and is a great executor (get tasks done in a structured way) and team player.
Agrobiomics offers:
- An inspiring team with space for personal and professional development.
- Access to BII’s startup community which besides offices and lab space includes different events including Friday bars.
- Salary according to experience and skills.
Interviews will be held on a running basis. Applications must be submitted as one PDF file containing all materials to be given consideration. For more information and to send your application, contact R&D Director Mathilde Nordgaard at mathilde@agrobiomics.bio, telephone: (+45) 21701903.
