Are you excited by the idea of visualising the brain in 3D to advance drug discovery and deepen our understanding of brain biology?
At Gubra, we operate one of the world’s most advanced platforms for 3D whole-organ microscopy. We continuously push the boundaries of what large-scale imaging can reveal about brain biology, disease mechanisms, and the efficacy of novel drug candidates.
We are looking for a neuroscientist to join our 3D Imaging department. If you have a strong background in brain anatomy and function, are naturally curious and proactive, and value teamwork and collaboration, this could be an excellent opportunity for you.
About 3D Imaging at Gubra
Gubra has pioneered high-throughput light sheet fluorescence microscopy (LSFM) for whole-organ imaging in preclinical pharmacology. In our 3D Imaging department, we have established an integrated platform that combines robotic sample preparation, advanced microscopy, and AI-driven image analysis. We use quantitative imaging to identify novel drug targets, characterise compound mode of action, and evaluate therapeutic efficacy in rodent models of diverse diseases. Although brain imaging is our core strength, our platform spans multiple organs, tissue types, and disease models. We support both internal drug discovery and international pharmaceutical and biotech partners through our CRO activities.
Scientific innovation is deeply embedded in our team culture. We continuously advance microscopy methods and analytical pipelines, contribute to peer-reviewed publications, and present our work at international conferences. You will join a collaborative and friendly team of neuroscientists, biologists, microscopy specialists, and image analysts. We value open communication, strong team spirit, and scientific curiosity. English is our working language.
The Role
We are seeking a scientist who is genuinely passionate about neuroscience and confident discussing brain organisation, neuronal populations, and disease-relevant pathways. As a key scientific expert within our 3D Imaging team, you will shape and support CNS imaging studies by providing deep neuroanatomical insights that guide study design, endpoint selection, and data interpretation. While your primary focus will be brain imaging, you will also contribute to imaging studies across other organs and disease areas, working closely with colleagues across disciplines.
We welcome candidates from both academia and industry who are passionate about translating advanced imaging into biological insight.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, plan and coordinate 3D brain imaging studies in collaboration with cross-functional project teams
- Provide expert guidance on neuroanatomical endpoints and study strategy
- Interpret complex 3D imaging datasets and provide scientifically rigorous conclusions
- Prepare high-quality data presentations and reports
- Present scientific results to CRO clients
- Operate light sheet microscopes and further develop workflows for high-throughput imaging
- Actively contribute to scientific discussions across the department
What We Are Looking For
Essential
- PhD in neuroscience, biology, or related discipline
- Outstanding knowledge of rodent neuroanatomy and cell biology of the brain
- Experience with fluorescence microscopy
- Strong data interpretation and scientific communication skills
- Collaborative mindset and strong team spirit
- Proactive, innovative, and solution-oriented approach
- Good eye for detail
Highly Relevant (but not mandatory)
- Experience with light sheet fluorescence microscopy. Candidates with strong confocal microscopy or other imaging background and willingness to learn LSFM are encouraged to apply.
- Experience with tissue clearing technologies
We offer
- A collaborative and international research environment
- A healthy work-life balance
- Flexible working hours
- Opportunities for professional development
- Opportunity to work with cutting-edge imaging technologies and contribute to impactful science with real-world therapeutic applications.
The position is based at our headquarters in Hørsholm, Denmark.
Contact and application
Please apply no later than 31st March 2026 by uploading your cover letter, resume (in English), and relevant diplomas on our website. Applications are evaluated on a running basis.

About Gubra
Gubra is a disease-agnostic techbio company specialized in peptide-based drug discovery and preclinical contract research services striving for excellence at all levels. We insist on doing things efficiently – and often differently - to reach the results we aim for. Our vision is to become leaders in the path towards a more sustainable and healthier world. We do that by facilitating the discovery of new medicine, and by acting and inspiring others to fight the ongoing climate and biodiversity crises.
Gubra’s activities are focused on the early stages of drug development and are organised in two main highly synergistic business areas: Biotech and CRO Services. We generate our revenue by performing research for life science companies as well as by partnering projects from our discovery and development pipeline.
Our therapeutic focus is within metabolic and fibrotic diseases, and we specialize in in vivo pharmacology, ex vivo assays, drug profiling, histology, stereology and whole brain and organ imaging. In addition, we offer a full palette of advanced transcriptomics. Our ML/AI-driven peptide drug discovery platform streaMLine enables us to rapidly develop a peptide hit into a non-clinical candidate ready for development. Through a constant focus on high quality, scientific excellence, speed, and solid teamwork we have established ourselves as a highly professional and competent partner in the market.
People are our greatest asset, and our team consists of around 300 employees of which many are located in Hørsholm, Denmark. The mix of people from different cultures and educational backgrounds combined with our entrepreneurial mindset have greatly impacted our working environment, which is characterized by entrepreneurial drive, scientific curiosity, and teamwork – we join forces!
