Minerva Imaging is looking for two students who are interested in applied anesthesia in preclinical research and eager to work in a scientific setting? Then we have the project that may just be right for you, as we are looking for two students to join us at the contract research organization (CRO), Minerva Imaging.
Project description
Minerva Imaging focuses on the use of advanced models and in vivo molecular imaging for translational research and drug development. We specialize in magnetic resonance (MR) imaging of large animals, as this is an essential tool in cardiovascular research. During anesthesia and positioning in a MR scanner, physiological compensatory mechanisms alter blood pressure, heart rate and body temperature. In this project, we aim to investigate and compare the physiological effects of different anesthetic drugs to fine tune the anesthesia to fit the purpose.
The student(s) will get a profound understanding of anesthesia and its cardiovascular effects, anesthetic monitoring and recovery, data collection, analysis, and interpretation. The student(s) will also gain valuable insights into preclinical research settings, develop practical problem-solving skills and improve their communication and collaboration skills while gaining hands-on experience bridging academic learnings and industry practices.
The MI scholar program
As a master student, you will be part of our internal Minerva Imaging Scholar Program. The program is designed to support Minerva Imaging’s continued development as a scientifically driven CRO and focuses on developing novel tools and procedures that expand the capabilities in our focus areas.
The project is open as a 6-month master’s project with start date August/primo September 2026. You will be assigned to an internal senior scientist that will supervise you. Ideally, we are looking for two candidates who are interested in working together. You do not need to have a KU supervisor in place, as Minerva Imaging will match you with an appropriate KU supervisor.
Your profile
The ideal candidate(s) has a bachelor's degree in veterinary medicine and is motivated to take ownership of the project, bringing a positive and proactive attitude. Further, motivation to do in vivo work in an explorative environment is essential.
