Cirqle Biomedical is seeking an R&D Scientist Intern to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with senior researchers. Our goal is to provide you with hands-on experience in rigorous lab research and valuable insights into life science innovation within a startup environment.
About Cirqle
Cirqle Biomedical's mission is to pioneer advancements in women's health by combining our expertise in mucin engineering and human-centered design. Our first product is a novel non-hormonal contraceptive that reinforces the body’s natural barrier to sperm cells, the cervical mucus. We are now developing this product in partnership with Organon, a world-leading women's health pharmaceutical company, as part of a $360M deal. Our innovative efforts have garnered recognition from major media outlets, including Forbes, CNN, and Wired Magazine. What you’ll work on:
- Understand the immune modulatory properties of mucins and how mucins affect bacterial adhesion, growth, and pathogenicity in human tissues.
- Design and execute experiments to test hypotheses regarding mucins' role in human health
- Learn key lab techniques such as ELISA, cell-culture, flow cytometry, bacterial/viral culture, mucin purification, and qPCR.
- Analyze and communicate your results to the team and management
- Ad hoc lab tasks to support the science team
Who you are:
- You hold a bachelor degree in in biology, molecular biology, immunology or biotechnology and have hands on experience working in a laboratory
- Seeking a 6-month internship (37 hours/week) to gain hands-on experience in a life science startup
- Capable of simplifying complex information
- Work independently
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
