Antibody Scientist with Expertise in mAb Expression, Purification and Characterisation
Do you want to apply your expertise in protein expression to drive groundbreaking research and therapeutic development? Do you want to become a part of a cutting-edge team focused on advancing biophysics techniques and protein purification method?
Then join us at The BioInnovation Institute (BII) at Nørrebro, where we are currently looking for a skilled antibody Scientist to take part in our company-creation program, Bio Studio.
Incubated by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, BII’s mission is to create new life science solutions to address unmet societal or health needs. At BII, we have established a new program, Bio Studio, which aims to build life science start-ups based on world-class research. Bio Studio projects are three-year grant funded projects sourced from leading researchers employed at research institutions worldwide. The projects we admit combine scientific novelty, commercial viability, and the potential for significant societal and/or health impact. The goal of the project is to create a viable start-up company based on the project within the three years.
BII aims to recruit a strong project team for each Bio Studio project, and it is expected that this team will form the core of the future start-up deriving from the project. Apart from establishing a solid Project Team to be headed up by an Entrepreneur in Residence, BII provides a comprehensive network of industry, investors, and subject matter experts to support the projects.
Your Opportunity to Join BII’s Bio Studio Program!
BII Bio Studio is about to start up a new three-year project within a novel type of monoclonal antibody therapies sourced in by a highly renowned Principal Investigator from a Danish research organisation. We are seeking a Scientist with expertise in antibody expression, purification, and characterization to become a key player in advancing antibody therapies.
Together with your team, you will drive a pioneering project to develop monoclonal antibody (mAb) therapies with pH-sensitive antigen binding properties. The goal of the project is to develop and commercialize a novel antibody discovery and engineering platform that can deliver mAb therapies with enhanced efficacy, reduced cost of treatment, allow for targeting of previously undruggable targets, and enable novel modes of administration. You will be part of an early-stage, research-driven team dedicated to discovering and developing novel therapies, leveraging cutting-edge technology to transform patient care. The team will consist of experienced scientists passionate about making a therapeutic impact through innovative antibody engineering.
Your ownership of our mutual journey will be to:
- Be the main responsible for the project’s activities and platforms within antibody characterisation (antibody expression, purification and biochemical and biophysical assays).
- Establish the project’s platforms and protocols for antibody expression, purification and characterisation.
- Set-up and perform assays for antibody expression, purification, and characterisation as a part of a team.
- Conduct data analysis including but not limited to analysis of antibody expression, purification, characterisation and developability.
- Support the project with overarching activities and internal processes and being a proactive problem-solver.
- Be co-responsible for initial laboratory establishment at BII.
Your daily work and well-being will be shared directly with the Entrepreneur in Residence (EiR) and Lead Scientist but as a small community with close ties and bright minds, you should be prepared for many cross-functional and inspiring discussions that can help shape your work at BII.
Your Professional & Personal Spirit
Our new teammate should be eager to work with translational research in an innovative and inspiring environment and is dedicated to pioneering advancements in protein biophysics.
Besides this, you have:
- Minimum a master’s degree (preferably PhD) in a relevant area with experience in antibody expression, purification and characterisation
- Fluent in English language oral and written
Experience in several of the below-mentioned areas:
- Experimental planning and assay development
- mAb and mAb fragment expression, preferably using either bacterial, mammalian, or yeast expression
- Protein purification (e.g. affinity and/or size-exclusion chromatography)
- Biochemical and biophysical characterization of antibodies.
- Developability evaluation of antibodies
- Molecular biology methods including cloning, site-directed mutagenisis, and vector design.
- Antibody engineering in general
- Structural antibody prediction and analysis
- Outsourcing of pre-clinical and/or CMC activities
- Antibody immunogenicity evaluation
- Working with mammalian cell lines in functional cell assays
You are intensely curious about the relevant concepts in cancer biology and autoimmunity, passionate about developing your skills and expertise, and you thrive working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment.
Your Experience Working at BII
We offer a committed and professional workplace in which we emphasize ensuring that our colleagues thrive, are challenged, and have opportunities to develop their potential. A career at BII allows you to work with world-leading entrepreneurial scientists in a position where you will have a substantial chance to impact your job and the opportunity to develop your bio entrepreneurial skills.
BII invites you to become part of a vibrant and professional workplace with a chance to bring ideas to life and science to market to benefit society and human welfare.
