Research Scientist – Neuro-Regenerative Assays
Company Overview
We are a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing a first-in-class allogeneic cell therapy based on mesenchymal stem cells. Our lead product combines pro-angiogenic and neuro-regenerative activity and targets severe conditions with high unmet medical need, including erectile dysfunction and pulmonary arterial hypertension.
Our strategy is science-driven and pragmatic, with a clear regulatory path and a strong focus on translational relevance. We are building critical R&D capabilities in-house to ensure speed, quality, and scientific ownership.
Role Summary
This role sits at the scientific core of the company’s neuro-regenerative strategy.
As Research Scientist, Neuro-Regenerative Assays, you will own the development and execution of human-relevant neuro-regenerative in vitro assays, generating data that directly supports mechanism-of-action (MoA) understanding and clinical progression of our lead therapy.
This is a highly hands-on, execution-focused laboratory role, ideal for a scientist who wants to work deeply at the bench while shaping assay platforms that truly matter.
Key Responsibilities
Neuro-Regenerative Assay Ownership (Core Focus)
- Design, develop, and optimize robust human in vitro neuro-regenerative assays, with a primary focus on neurite outgrowth, nerve repair, and regenerative capacity.
- Establish a best-in-class neuro-regeneration assay platform that becomes foundational for MoA studies and regulatory documentation.
- Generate high-quality, reproducible, and biologically meaningful neuro-regenerative data that directly informs development decisions.
Translational Model Development
- Lead the transition from exploratory ex vivo mouse-based assays to standardized human cell-based in vitro models, increasing translational and clinical relevance.
- Ensure assays reflect human neurobiology and regenerative mechanisms, rather than purely academic endpoints.
Hands-On Experimental Execution
- Perform intensive laboratory work including neural cell culture, imaging-based assays, and quantitative analysis.
- Execute precision manual techniques, such as micro-dissection or delicate work under the microscope, requiring strong dexterity and focus.
- Apply imaging and data analysis to assess neurite length, branching, and regenerative phenotypes.
Mechanism of Action & Scientific Contribution
- Generate MoA-defining neuro-regenerative data for the company’s lead cell therapy.
- Contribute ideas and experimental insight while remaining strongly execution-oriented.
- Collaborate closely with senior scientists in a small, highly focused R&D team.
Required Skills & Experience
Education
- PhD (highly preferred) or MSc in Neuroscience, Cell Biology, or a related life science discipline
- Recent PhD graduates are strongly encouraged to apply
Must-Have Experience
- Proven hands-on experience culturing neural cells
- Direct experience developing and running neuro-regenerative assays, particularly:
- Neurite outgrowth assays
- Imaging-based neuro assays
- Strong manual dexterity and precision for delicate laboratory work
- A clear preference for bench work and experimental ownership
Nice-to-Have Experience
- Experience with iPSCs
- Background from biotech or pharmaceutical industry environments
- Familiarity with translational or MoA-focused assay development
Ideal Candidate Profile
You are a scientist who:
- Wants to be deeply hands-on in the lab, not primarily behind a desk
- Is excited by building and owning assays, not just running existing protocols
- Values scientific rigor, reproducibility, and biological relevance
- Is motivated by the idea that your neuro-regenerative data will directly support therapies reaching patients
This role is junior by design — the priority is strong experimental execution rather than senior-level management.
Team & Culture
- You will join a small, focused scientific team with direct access to senior scientists and daily scientific sparring.
- The company is deliberately building internal R&D expertise to reduce reliance on CROs.
- The culture is mission-driven, pragmatic, and milestone-focused, with clear links between experiments and patient impact.
Location
- Denmark preferred
- International candidates willing to relocate are welcome
Why this role is special
Few roles offer the opportunity to build and own human neuro-regenerative assays that directly shape the clinical path of a first-in-class cell therapy.
