Scientist — In vitro & ex vivo
We’re expanding our research team at Blue Cell Therapeutics and are looking for a Scientist with experience in ex vivo and in vitro biology. If you’re motivated by meaningful science and like being part of a collaborative lab environment, we’d be glad to hear from you.
About Blue Cell Therapeutics
Blue Cell Therapeutics is a Danish biotech company developing allogeneic stem cell therapies with a focus on erectile dysfunction (ED) and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Our first-in-class lead product, BlueC-231, is designed to restore vascular function and nerve repair, offering the first potentially curative treatment for ED. Joining Blue Cell means becoming part of an ambitious, fast-growing biotech where your work directly contributes to developing innovative, life-changing therapies for patients.
About the Role
As our new Scientist, you will play a key role in developing in vitro and ex vivo assays across neurobiology and vascular biology, supporting translational programs in ED and PAH. You will work closely with an international team of colleagues and, in collaboration with Senior Scientists, contribute to multiple projects and help drive scientific excellence in a dynamic environment.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Designing, executing, and troubleshooting endothelial angiogenesis assays (tube formation, spheroid sprouting) with rigorous quantitative analysis and reporting
- Running molecular/immunoassay workflows (qPCR, ELISA, Westerns), imaging, and maintaining high-quality documentation/ELN
- Developing PASMC assays and BMPR2 signaling readouts
- Supporting ex vivo neuronal tissue processing and evaluating modulators affecting vascular phenotypes
- Collaborating with lab technicians, mentoring research assistants, and students; contributing to SOPs, assay transfer, and team knowledge sharing
What We Are Looking For
We value motivation, curiosity, and a willingness to learn. Ideally, you:
- Hold a BSc (2–5 years relevant experience), MSc (0–3 years relevant experience), or are a freshly graduated PhD
- Having experience in cell culture, ex vivo assays, microdissection and tissue handling, quantitative image analysis, qPCR, ELISA, Western Blot, and Flow Cytometry
- Demonstrate strong documentation/ELN skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic research environment
- Have a FELASA license ABD (preferred – if not, we will offer this)
- Show proven ability to execute and analyze assays, collaborate or mentor trainees, and communicate clearly in cross-functional settings
Most importantly, you are a team player with a positive mindset, strong teamwork and communication skills, and a readiness to take initiative and contribute to a collaborative, solution-oriented culture.
Why Join Us?
- Contribute to groundbreaking cell therapies that have the potential to transform patient care
- Join a collaborative and trust-based culture, where we support each other and share responsibility for reaching our goals
- Work in a flat and informal organization, where your voice is heard and valued
- Thrive in a startup environment that emphasizes scientific excellence and wellbeing, with room for curiosity, learning, and personal development
How to Apply
If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you. Please submit a single PDF (max two pages) including your CV, a brief cover letter (≤1 page) highlighting the relevant assays you have executed and any other relevant experiences, e.g., working with mesenchymal stem cells, induced pluripotent stem cell generation, culture, and maintenance experience. Please also include names and contact details for 1-2 references, your preferred start date, and your work authorization status in Denmark (if applicable).
Email your application to us at job@blue-cell.com, using the subject line: “Application – Scientist”. Application review is rolling; shortlisted candidates will be contacted for a first video interview, followed by an on-site practical/technical interview at our Copenhagen site (BioInnovation Institute, Ole Maaløes Vej 3, 2200 Copenhagen N).
Blue Cell Therapeutics welcomes applications from candidates of all backgrounds and also accepts strong unsolicited applications aligned with our angiogenesis, neurogenesis, and cell therapy programs.
