Laboratory Technician — Cell Culture & Assays
We’re looking for a Laboratory Technician to join us at Blue Cell Therapeutics. If you enjoy practical lab work and want to contribute to research with real potential for patients, this could be a good match.
About Blue Cell Therapeutics
Blue Cell Therapeutics is a Danish biotech company developing allogeneic stem cell therapies with a focus on erectile dysfunction (ED) and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Our first-in-class lead product, BlueC-231, is designed to restore vascular function and nerve repair, offering the first potentially curative treatment for ED. As a small, ambitious, and fast-moving company, we value teamwork, open communication, and a lively, down-to-earth culture where everyone’s contribution matters.
About the Role
As our new Laboratory Technician, you will play a key role in executing in vitro and ex vivo workflows across endothelial and smooth muscle assays, immunoassays, imaging, and neuronal tissue processing. You’ll be involved in several projects at once, supporting translational studies in PAH and ED, and helping to keep our lab running smoothly in close collaboration with Senior Scientists.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Performing routine mammalian cell culture and cell expansion
- Executing endothelial tube formation and spheroid sprouting assays; operating standardized analysis pipelines
- Running qPCR/ELISA and Westerns/imaging; maintaining inventory and equipment per SOPs
- Harvesting neuronal tissue or blood vessels from rodents for ex vivo assays, coordinating sample logistics and documentation
- Developing and performing neuronal or angiogenic ex vivo assays
- Mentoring and supporting trainees (research assistants, students) in basic lab techniques and safety
What We Are Looking For
We know that skills are built over time, and what matters most is your motivation, curiosity, and willingness to learn. Ideally, you:
- Educated Labtechnician (laborant or bioanalytiker) in life sciences with at least 3 years of hands-on lab experience (academic or industry)
- Are competent in cell culture and expansion workflows (aseptic technique, passaging, banking) and accurate documentation/ELN
- Have experience with in vitro/ex vivo assay handling and development
- Are skilled in laboratory techniques such as microdissection, tissue isolation, quantitative imaging, qPCR, ELISA, and Western Blot
- Are organized, communicative, and team players; comfortable with SOPs, ELN, and basic QC practices
- FELASA AD level is advantageous (otherwise, we can provide the course)
Most importantly, you bring a positive mindset, are ready to take initiative, and enjoy contributing to a collaborative and supportive workplace.
Why Join Us?
- Contribute to groundbreaking cell therapies that have the potential to transform patient care
- Join a collaborative and trust-based culture, where we support each other and share responsibility for reaching our goals
- Work in a flat and informal organization, where your voice is heard and valued
- Thrive in a startup environment that emphasizes scientific excellence, well-being, and personal development
How to Apply
If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you. Please submit a single PDF (max two pages) including your CV, a brief cover letter (≤1 page) highlighting the relevant assays you have executed and any other relevant experiences, e.g., working with mesenchymal stem cells, induced pluripotent stem cell generation, culture, and maintenance experience. Please also include names and contact details for 1-2 references, your preferred start date, and your work authorization status in Denmark (if applicable).
Email your application to us at job@blue-cell.com, using the subject line: “Application – Laboratory Technician”. Application review is rolling; shortlisted candidates will be contacted for a first video interview, followed by an on-site practical/technical interview at our Copenhagen site (BioInnovation Institute, Ole Maaløes Vej 3, 2200 Copenhagen N).
Blue Cell Therapeutics welcomes applications from candidates of all backgrounds and also accepts strong unsolicited applications aligned with our angiogenesis, neurogenesis, and cell therapy programs.
