microMINER.bio is a young start up that recently entered BII's Venture Lab program. The founder group is experienced in science and business and is passionate about making a difference.
We are pioneering nature-inspired biotechnology to transform metal recovery and battery recycling. We seek a talented and experienced strain engineer to join our core team as the responsible for driving our strain development program and contribute to the overall science behind our disruptive solutions for sustainable recycling.
What you will do:
- You will be working closely together with the founding team to shape the company.
- You will be an integral member of the team crafting the end-solution for metal recovery.
- You will lead and advance our strain engineering strategy: (1) leverage front-line genome engineering tools like CRISPR, recombineering, and advanced molecular biology techniques to develop high-performing microbial strains; (2) drive innovation in our strain development pipeline by implementing novel approaches and technologies and ensuring project milestones are met; (3) translate strain improvements into scalable processes.
Your background likely includes:
- PhD in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 3+ years of industry experience in microbial strain development with demonstrated success in bringing engineered strains to production scale.
- Deep expertise in genome editing, metabolic engineering, and high-throughput strain construction and screening, primarily on Gram-negative bacterial strains, including both model organisms and environmental isolates.
- Advanced understanding of microbial physiology, genetics, and metabolism.
- Ability to adapt molecular tools for application in non-conventional bacterial species.
- A solid understanding of Gram-positive bacterial systems is a plus.
- Previous experience with bioinformatics and protein engineering is highly desirable.
