Do you want to help us develop cutting-edge polymer-based nanoparticles for advanced drug delivery systems? Are you eager to contribute to a dynamic team environment where your expertise will be crucial to launching a new company? Then join us at The BioInnovation Institute (BII) at Nørrebro, where we are currently looking for an Analytical Chemist to play a key role in our company-creation program.
The mission of BII is to create new life science solutions to address unmet societal or health needs. At BII, we have established a program, Bio Studio, which aims to build life science start-ups based on world-class research. Bio Studio projects are three-year grant funded projects sourced from leading researchers employed at research institutions worldwide. The projects we admit combine scientific novelty, commercial viability, and the potential for significant societal and/or health impact. The goal of the projects is to create a viable start-up company based on the project within the three years.
BII aims to recruit a strong project team for each Bio Studio project, and it is expected that this team will form the core of the future start-up deriving from the project. Apart from establishing a solid Project Team, to be headed up by an Entrepreneur in Residence, BII provides a comprehensive network of industry, investors, and subject matter experts to support the projects.
Your Opportunity to Join BII’s Bio Studio Program!
We are launching an exciting new project focused on developing cutting-edge in-vivo drug delivery technology with specific applications in targeted gene delivery for oncology treatments. This innovative project has been initiated by highly renowned Principal Investigators from a leading Danish research organization and represents a significant opportunity to advance therapeutic approaches in cancer treatment.
As part of BII's Bio Studio program, this project aims to transform groundbreaking research into a viable startup company within a three-year timeframe. You will have the unique opportunity to work at the forefront of nanomedicine, collaborating with world-class scientists to develop polymeric nanoparticle technologies that could revolutionize how genetic material is delivered to target cells in cancer patients.
By joining our team, you will play an instrumental role in bringing this promising technology from laboratory concept to clinical application, with the potential to significantly impact cancer treatment paradigms and patient outcomes.
Your ownership of our mutual journey will be to:
- Design and synthesize polymer-based nanoparticles for gene delivery applications.
- Develop scalable synthesis and formulation methods to ensure reproducibility and efficiency.
- Optimize physicochemical properties (size, charge, stability) for enhanced immune cell transfection.
- Establish and perform analytical assays to characterize nanoparticles, including size distribution (DLS, TEM), surface charge (zeta potential), encapsulation efficiency, and release kinetics.
- Develop stability and degradation studies under physiological conditions.
- Collaborate with cell biologists to evaluate nanoparticle transfection efficiency in immune cells.
- Interpret in vitro and in vivo experimental data to refine nanoparticle formulations.
- Troubleshoot challenges related to cellular uptake and gene expression.
- Work closely with process development teams to scale up nanoparticle production under GMP conditions.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines for gene delivery products.
- Contribute to technology transfer, manufacturing process optimization, and regulatory documentation.
Your daily work and well-being will be shared directly with the Entrepreneur in Residence, but as a small community with close ties and bright minds, you should be prepared for many cross-functional and inspiring discussions that can help shape your work at BII.
