We are looking for an experienced Project Director with a strong track record in planning, executing, and delivering facility construction projects on time, within budget, and to the highest levels of quality. You will play a key role in ensuring that our facility designs foster collaboration and innovation in the pharmaceutical industry. You will drive projects from inception to completion.

Zealand Pharma is a growing company of approximately 400 employees, engaged across the full drug development value chain and collaborating closely with external partners. As we advance our diverse project pipeline and move more drug candidates into later-stage clinical development, our rapid growth necessitates an expansion of our office and laboratory facilities. To ensure strong leadership of this construction and expansion program, we are looking for a highly skilled Project Director. This role will report to the Corporate Management-anchored project steering committee and refer directly to our Chief People Officer.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the execution of the ongoing facility expansion project, ensuring alignment with strategic ambitions and effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead hands-on project management of facility initiatives, from initial layout to full operational readiness with a project team referring to you.
- Develop and maintain an updated forecast of facility expansion needs to support business growth.
- Drive future facility expansion projects, ensuring they align with Zealand Pharma’s long-term objectives.
- Collaborate with the Head of ESG to integrate ESG requirements into facility projects.
- Maintain strong relationships and close collaboration with relevant authorities, partners, and stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of facility projects.
Candidate profile
You will have most or all the below qualifications
- A degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, business or a related field.
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in project management within facility construction in complex environments, preferably pharmaceuticals
- Proven track record of leading and delivering complex facility construction and expansion projects on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.
- Strong problem-solving, negotiations and decision-making abilities, with a proactive and hands-on approach.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to navigate a complex organization.
- Strong knowledge of facility design principles, construction processes, and operational readiness.
- Experience working with authorities, external contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance and seamless project execution.
- Solid understanding of budget forecasting, cost control, and risk management in large-scale facility projects.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences industry is a plus but not required.
- Knowledge of ESG principles and experience integrating sustainability requirements into construction projects is an advantage.
