Modeling & Simulation is a new Department within Pharmacokinetics, Immunogenicity and Bioanalytical Sciences under Research and Non-clinical Development. The Department will have the responsibilities to support clinical development projects and late phase research projects by setting the direction and drive execution of translational PK and PK/PD strategies. In addition, the Department will be responsible for building mathematical models and performing human PK and PD simulations to guide non-clinical and clinical study designs as well as regulatory discussions. The position is based in Søborg, Copenhagen.
Responsibilities
- Establish and lead the new Modeling & Simulation Department.
- Set the direction, define and drive execution of translational pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) strategies to support clinical development and late-phase research projects.
- Develop and implement mathematical models to simulate human PK and PD, guiding non-clinical and clinical study designs.
- Perform human PK and PD simulations to inform regulatory interactions and submissions.
- Collaborate with clinical development teams to integrate modeling and simulation insights into project plans and decision-making processes.
- Oversee outsourced modeling and simulation activities, ensuring they meet quality standards and project requirements.
- Provide technical expertise and training to team members on PK/PD modeling and simulation techniques.
- Ensure high quality of reports and simulation outcomes presented to stakeholders, including senior management and regulatory bodies.
- Foster a collaborative environment within the department and with other teams to achieve project goals.
Candidate profile
- MSc degree or PhD within Pharmaceutical, Medical, Engineering, Statistical or Mathematical sciences or equivalent.
- At least 10 years of experience in modeling and simulation within pharma or biotech industry and a proven track record of leading successful projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of pharmacokinetics (PK), including the processes of absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of drugs.
- In-depth understanding of biology, physiology, and various regulatory mechanisms.
- Proficiency in simulation software (e.g. Phoenix WNL/NLME or similar)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop accurate models.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Leadership and team management experience, with the ability to inspire and guide a diverse team.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in modeling and simulation.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
