Your Role as a Scientific Project Manager
As part of the Discovery Project Management team, you will play a key role in leading our internal and partnered drug discovery projects. You will be responsible for managing high-impact innovation initiatives, ensuring alignment with Gubra’s strategic objectives, and driving projects efficiently toward key milestones. A strong biological foundation is essential, allowing you to critically assess target biology, translational relevance, and experimental design throughout the drug discovery process. Moreover, a strong understanding of business development and the competitive landscape will be necessary to achieve success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and drive drug discovery and early innovation peptide projects from hit identification to lead candidate selection.
- Ensure project progress through structured planning, risk assessment, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
- Assess and interpret biological data to guide target validation, early discovery efforts, and decision-making.
- Optimize project timelines and deliverables, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and scientific feasibility.
- Foster collaboration by managing key stakeholders, including internal R&D teams, external biotech and pharma partners, and KOLs.
- Communicate findings effectively, ensuring clarity in project updates, key recommendations, and strategic development discussions.
Your Qualifications
- PhD in life sciences (e.g., molecular/cell biology, pharmacology, chemistry, pharmaceutical, or medical science).
- 5+ years’ experience leading drug discovery projects in an industrial setting.
- Strong biological expertise, with experience in target validation, translational science, and mechanistic insights relevant to drug discovery.
- Experience with peptide-based drug discovery and/or metabolic diseases is an advantage.
- Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and a passion for scientific innovation.
- Deep knowledge of drug discovery workflows, including early-stage research, target validation, and lead optimization.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects, balancing scientific opportunities with practical execution.
- Understanding of business development, including strategic partnerships and market analysis.
