As we expand to meet growing client demands, we are seeking a results-driven research scientist to contribute to our microbial strain engineering projects with clients and strengthen our tech platform.

This role is perfect for an industry-seasoned scientist passionate about leveraging synthetic biology to create tangible client impact while closely collaborating with team members. You thrive in fast-paced settings, maintaining high scientific standards, and are eager to join a rapidly growing biotech company, currently about 20 employees and set to significantly expand in 2025.
Responsibilities:
- Drive forward strain engineering activities (cloning, transformation of bacteria and yeasts)
- Develop, implement and execute high-performance strain cultivation assays
- Carefully document lab work, document and analyse data
- Collaborate with fellow scientists of all levels to deliver on project timelines and deliverables.
What You Bring:
- Education: MSc or PhD in Synthetic Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline.
- Industry Experience: 2+ years in microbial strain engineering, with corporate expertise in pharmaceutical or industrial bioprocesses.
- Experience with production strain technology, recombinant protein expression, or metabolite production.
- Experience with DNA cloning, strain transformation, cultivation and assaying.
- Exceptional team-work, collaboration and lab documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience leading agile R&D teams.
- Technical strain engineering experience in Bacillus, E. coli, Corynebacterium or yeasts (Pichia, S. cerevisiae etc)
- Familiarity with corporate bioprocess development workflows.
- Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DoE), small-scale automation, and fermentation science.
- Background in pharmaceutical GMP environments.
- Relevant experience from i.e. a CDMO or CRO on delivering projects with clients or collaboration partners
