To strengthen our Market & Product Management capabilities, we are looking for an experienced and talented director to lead our product & market development organization and be part of shaping the future of Sophion.
The role
In this newly established role, we are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Market & Product Management to oversee the entire product portfolio and lifecycle, from concept to launch. This role ensures alignment with our business strategy, customer needs, and market trends. You will manage a team of product managers, collaborate closely with R&D, sales, marketing, and other internal functions, and drive market analysis and competitor research to maintain our competitive edge.
In this role, your ability to define and proactively work with our product strategic roadmaps, establish an effective interface between the R&D, production, commercial organizations as well as our customers will be important to continue our growth journey in the next years.
You will work closely together with the Senior Management team and report directly to the CEO of Sophion.

We specialize in developing and manufacturing automated patch clamp and cell line solutions. Key responsibilities and tasks
Drive Strategic Alignment and the Product Roadmap
- Develop and implement product roadmaps, strategies and programs that align with Sophion’s overall strategy, market and customer demands.
- Define and translate clear market and customer requirements into detailed specifications for R&D to incorporate in the development of future products and services, that align with Sophion’ s overall strategy.
Team Leadership and organizational development
- Lead, mentor, and develop your dedicated team of product managers.
- Develop the product management function and our organization to meet company objectives and ensure employee satisfaction.
- Manage and continuously follow-up on the Market & Product Management budget
Product discovery, Market Research and product performance
- Conduct thorough market research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities and threats.
- Continuously carry out market surveillance to be on the forefront of new trends and tendencies.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including (but not limited to) financial results to track product success and market impact.
Oversee Product Development and contribute to drive innovation
- Oversee the entire product lifecycle from idea to launch and perform post-launch analyses.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and collaborations to expand each product’s market reach and drive revenue growth. Work with senior management in case of potential acquisitions.
- Drive innovation and ensure the continuous improvement of our product offerings.
- Continuously analyze data to identify and pursue opportunities for improvement of internal processes
R&D Collaboration to deliver cutting each technology
- Working proactively with R&D management to deliver insights about gaps in the market, customer’s unmet needs and opportunities to apply a blue/red ocean strategy in selected market segments
- Assist R&D in pressure testing their new ideas early on: Investigate how the commercial potential matches the expected time to market, technical feasibility, IP landscape and estimated cost of development
Compliance and Risk Management
- Identify and mitigate risks related to pursuing new opportunities that otherwise would have a potential negative impact on our business
- Together with our QA/QC director and external legal advisors ensure all products and services comply with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements.
Drive & intact Global Commercial Leadership
- Work closely with the Global Commercial Leadership Team to direct and manage marketing & commercial efforts to effectively promote products and drive sales growth.
Profile and key qualifications
- +7 years of hands-on leadership experience from a similar position with a proven track record of working with highly technical products to a global market. Experience from the Life Science or MedTech field is a benefit, but not a prerequisite, in this role.
- Master’s degree in business administration, marketing or related field, preferably combined with knowledge of and experience with science, technology and/or engineering companies. Alternatively, a background in science, technology, engineering or related field in combination with a commercial degree and working experience.
- Excellent strategic planning and business development skills.
- The ability to navigate on both the operational and strategic level, while continuously aligning mutual expectations to ensure effective cross-functional collaboration towards common goals
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets and financial performance
- Data driven with proficiency in data analysis, including the use of technology for process optimization.
- Good understanding and insights to global technology development with the Life Science and MedTech industry
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Fluency in English, both oral and written, is a must.
Travel is required
Sophion offices in Denmark, USA, Japan and China, and customers all over the world. Thus, this is an international role: You should expect to travel +30 days a year.
