Job Summary
As Finance Director at 21st.BIO, you will lead and manage the finance function to ensure the smooth running of daily financial processes while continuously improving existing systems. You will work closely with the CFO to oversee financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management, ensuring the company’s finances are well-managed and aligned with business goals. In addition, you will drive continuous improvements in the company’s ERP system and time registration processes to enhance financial insights, efficiency and support ongoing business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily Finance Operations:
- Manage day-to-day core financial processes, including accounting, financial reporting, tax compliance, and cash flow management for our DK and US sites.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial statements.
- Support CFO in monitoring and managing the company’s financial health, providing insights and recommendations for decision-making.
- Manage the finance team of currently 3 employees and ensure adherence to financial controls and regulatory requirements.
- ERP & Systems Development:
- Take ownership of the existing ERP system and lead improvements to enhance functionality and integration across the business.
- Take ownership of the development of the time registration system, identifying areas for efficiency improvements.
- Manage and collaborate with external vendors as necessary to implement system enhancements.
- Financial Planning & Analysis:
- Oversee maintenance of financial models, including the company’s budgeting and forecasting models, and support the analysis and improvements hereof.
- Support the capacity models for R&D and manufacturing teams to align financial planning with operational goals.
- Collaboration & Team Leadership:
- Support the CFO in fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence in the finance team.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D and pilot teams, to ensure financial processes are integrated with overall business operations.
- Liaise with external stakeholders, including auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies, to ensure compliance and transparency.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing daily financial operations within a growth-focused company. You bring hands-on experience in finance and accounting, combined with an understanding of ERP systems, ideally in the biotech or life science sector. Your ability to drive continuous improvement while managing a dynamic finance team is key to your success.
Key Qualities and Skills:
- Proven experience in leading financial operations, including accounting, reporting, and compliance; US experience is a plus
- Broad and deep understanding of financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
- Experience with ERP systems and a track record of incremental improvements to finance-related platforms.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, small-team environment
