System Engineer – Life Science – Uppsala
Work at the intersection of hardware, software, and real-world applications, shaping products used in life sciences and manufacturing. You’ll join a cross-functional team where your ideas directly influence what gets built and how well it performs in the hands of end users.
This is a role for someone who enjoys both exploring new concepts and making sure things actually work. You’ll help turn complex requirements into robust, usable products, while building skills that span engineering disciplines.
You’ll also gain exposure to regulated environments and advanced technologies, giving you experience that’s highly transferable across the life sciences sector.
What you’ll do
You’ll play a central role in product development—from early ideas through to final delivery.
Working closely with product managers, designers, and engineers, you’ll define what needs to be built and help ensure it meets real user needs. You’ll build and test prototypes across software, electronics, and mechanical systems, making sure everything works together as intended.
You’ll also take ownership of documentation—creating manuals, specifications, and training materials that make products usable and reliable in the field.
As a key link between hardware, software, and application teams, you’ll keep communication clear and aligned, helping avoid gaps and ensuring smoother development.
Over time, you’ll support and mentor others, contributing to a team culture focused on quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
What you’ll need
- A master’s degree in engineering (or equivalent experience)
- A few years of demonstrable work experience in engineering related to mechanics, electronics, automation or similar. This likely means you also have a strong interest in technology and solving practical problems
- Broad technical curiosity—experience with CAD, electronics, or programming is a plus
- Understanding of life sciences or regulated environments (GxP is a strong advantage)
- Fluency in English – Swedish would be a plus but not required.
The opportunity
You’ll gain hands-on experience across multiple engineering domains, not just one silo. The combination of product development, user interaction, and regulated environments will build a skill set that’s both deep and highly versatile.
