Lab Technician/Associate Scientist – Molecular Diagnostics Product Development & Biomarker Discovery
You are a skilled molecular biology laboratory operator who understands the importance of working accurately and carefully in the lab. We are looking for a colleague to join our small team in Copenhagen and expand our laboratory capacity for performing experiments and processing clinical samples. You enjoy working in the lab and understand the importance of following protocol and documenting your work. You are well organized, pay attention to detail, and you take pride in meticulous, systematic work – whether following an SOP, pipetting in the lab or documenting your results in the electronic lab workbook.
The Role:
For our new laboratory in Copenhagen, we are looking for a Laboratory Technician or Associate Scientist to be the execution backbone of our new lab. As the first dedicated lab resource, this is a pivotal role in the productivity and quality of work in our lab. You will help implement the standards, routines, and working practices to push our diagnostic biomarker discovery and product development projects forward.
Note: Benchwork excellence is the priority in this role, but experimental planning, documentation, data analysis, review, and presentation are part of the job.
What you will do:
- Practical molecular biology lab work, including RNA extraction, RT-qPCR and NGS.
- Handling and processing human samples (primarily saliva, buccal swabs, plasma, etc.).
- Prepare, execute and document experiments in the electronic lab notebook.
- Equipment maintenance, reagent preparation and quality control.
- Adhere to and help improve protocols, SOPs, and documentation practices in support of our Quality Management System (QMS).
- Participate in biomarker discovery projects and molecular diagnostic assay development.
- Document and report results and progress to colleagues.
Must-have experience (most important criteria):
- Meticulous attention to detail and a steady hand when pipetting in the lab.
- Proven lab experience with molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR and DNA/RNA extraction).
- Process & documentation mindset: following protocol and documenting your work.
Nice-to-have experience:
- Exposure to RT-qPCR and/or NGS workflows (doesn’t need to be expert level).
- Experience processing human-derived samples (saliva, buccal swabs, plasma, urine).
- Experience implementing or working in a QMS (e.g., ISO/GLP/IVD-related environments).
We offer:
- A central role in establishing routines in a new lab with real influence and visibility.
- A dynamic environment with strong opportunities for personal and professional development, growing your responsibilities, and taking ownership of your work.
- Exposure to in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) product development and quality management.
Practical details:
- Location: Copenhagen, Denmark
- Start date: As soon as possible / By agreement
- Employment: Full-time
How to apply:
Please upload your CV and application as soon as possible. We will be conducting interviews on a rolling basis.
About us
Marker Diagnostics is establishing a development laboratory in Denmark focused on biomarker discovery, and assay, and product development. We identify RNA biomarkers from non-invasive samples such as buccal swabs, blood, and urine, with initial applications in oncology and neurology.
