Do you want responsibility, scientific influence with strategic impact, and development opportunities?
We are looking for several experienced Scientists with strong backgrounds in in vivo pharmacology/translational research and relevant industry experience from biotech or pharma to play a central role in shaping the in vivo strategy for pipeline programs. If you are motivated by high-quality science, cross-functional collaboration, and translational research within areas such as metabolic disease, sarcopenia, inflammation, and functional aging, we would like to hear from you.
In this role, you will contribute to discovery and translational research by driving the scientific design, oversight, interpretation, and communication of in vivo pharmacology studies and related translational activities. The positions involves project work, close collaboration across functions and a strong focus on generating robust data to enable evidence-based decision making in projects.
Study execution will be carried out through Gubra’s in vivo pharmacology CRO unit and, where relevant, through external CRO partners.
The level of the position will be matched to the qualifications and experience of the candidates.
Your Primary Tasks
- Work in project teams to scope project strategies and define evidence generation needs in balance with ambitious timelines.
- Lead the scientific design for in vivo pharmacology/translational studies to support the discovery pipeline and identify differentiation opportunities that can be translated into clinical development
- Act as scientific study owner with responsibility for study rationale, design, endpoints, data review, interpretation, and conclusions
- Translate study results into decision-enabling data packages including communication of risk and opportunity profiles
- Partner with Gubra’s in vivo pharmacology CRO unit and, where relevant, external CROs to ensure scientifically sound and strategically fit-for-purpose study delivery
- Contribute to scientific discussions and project decisions through data-driven input
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across the business
- Support implementation of new models, methods and ways of working where relevant
- Contribute to a constructive, collaborative, and scientifically ambitious environment.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you take a holistic approach to study design - aligning scientific evidence generation with project needs and how the data contribute to the overall scientific narrative underpinning differentiated value propositions. You will bring a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset and thrive in a fast-moving, high-quality scientific environment.
Equally important is your ability to deliver top-class results through close cross-organizational collaboration. You communicate clearly – and have the ability to translate complex scientific information for audiences with diverse backgrounds.
Additionally, your profile includes:
- A PhD in pharmacology, translational research/medicine, physiology, or a related biomedical discipline
- At least 5 years of relevant industry experience in pre-clinical/translational pharmacology and early drug discovery. For senior candidates, more extensive experience in scientific leadership and cross-functional program support is expected
- Strong ability to integrate pharmacological, PK/PD, and in vitro data to guide project decisions and candidate selection
- Experience with the design, scientific oversight, and interpretation of preclinical studies
- Comfortable working through internal and external study execution partners
- Interest in using data/AI-enabled tools to support scientific work – experience is an advantage
- Motivated by contributing to shared goals in a team-oriented setting
It will be an advantage if you have experience within one or more of the following areas:
- Sarcopenia,
- Immunology & Inflammation
- Functional aging
- Systems biology
- Translational biomarkers
- Multi-parameter data interpretation

About Gubra
Gubra is an ambitious contract research organisation (CRO) and biotech company striving for excellence at all levels. We insist on doing things efficiently – and often differently - to reach the results we aim for. Our vision is to become leaders in the fight for a more sustainable and healthier world. We do that by facilitating the discovery of new medicine, and by acting and inspiring others to fight the ongoing climate and biodiversity crises.
Gubra’s activities are focused on the early stages of drug development and are organised in two highly synergistic business areas: CRO Services and Discovery & Partnerships (D&P). We generate our revenue by performing research for life science companies as well as by partnering projects from our discovery and development pipeline.
Our therapeutic focus is within metabolic and fibrotic diseases, and we specialize in in vivo pharmacology, ex vivo assays, drug profiling, histology, stereology and whole brain and organ imaging. In addition, we offer a full palette of advanced transcriptomics. Our ML/AI-driven peptide drug discovery platform streaMLine enables us to rapidly develop a peptide hit into a non-clinical candidate ready for development. Through a constant focus on high quality, scientific excellence, speed, and solid teamwork we have established ourselves as a highly professional and competent partner in the market.
People are our greatest asset, and our team consists of around 300 employees. The mix of people from different cultures and educational backgrounds combined with our entrepreneurial mindset have greatly impacted our working environment, which is characterized by entrepreneurial drive, scientific curiosity, and teamwork – we join forces!
