Senior R&D Scientist - Biotech Innovation
About the role
At MicroMiner, we are using biology to redefine how critical raw materials are sourced and recirculated.
We are hiring a senior scientist with deep molecular biology expertise and hands-on fermentation skills, ideally including non-model/extremophilic microorganisms. You will work directly with our Tech Platform Lead to design, build, and expand the core of our technology.
What you will do:
- Plan, design, and execute hands-on lab experiments that will define what is possible with our technology
- Develop and refine laboratory workflows that set the standard for how we work; help future teammates hit the ground running
- Partner with colleagues to develop and optimize assays
- Set up, operate and master lab-scale bioreactors
- Support downstream processing (DSP)
- Help us solve problems thoughtfully
- Keep clear, thorough records that help the whole team learn and iterate
Your background likely includes:
- 3–5 years working on commercial innovation or product development
- Ph.D./Master’s degree in Biotechnology or a related biological discipline
- Proficiency in fermentation systems, including installation, operation, and troubleshooting
- Demonstrated, hands-on experience fermenting bacterial strains
- Experience cultivating and handling non-model microorganisms; work with extremophiles is a plus
- Preferred: experience with genetic engineering in extremophilic organisms
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (Danish is a nice-to-have)
