Your new position
Zealand is advancing its metabolic health pipeline and entering a pivotal phase of growth and transformation. As Director, Strategy you will lead mission-critical, cross-functional initiatives, drive portfolio prioritization, and ensure enterprise alignment. This senior-facing role partners closely with leadership across R&D and Commercial—as well as executive forums—to turn strategy into execution and measurable impact.
We offer exciting responsibilities:
- Lead large-scale, cross-functional strategic initiatives that advance the portfolio and support corporate transformation.
- Partner with senior leaders across R&D, Commercial, Medical, Finance, and Operations to secure alignment, buy-in, and effective execution.
- Translate scientific, commercial, regulatory, and competitive insights into clear recommendations for portfolio and corporate priorities.
- Drive portfolio governance processes and annual strategic planning cycles to enable data-driven prioritization.
- Own scenario planning and key performance metrics that support enterprise-level strategic decision-making.
- Prepare structured updates and recommendations to the Executive Leadership Team and the Board
Your profile
Thrives in a dynamic biotech environment, integrating scientific and commercial perspectives to create strategic clarity. Communicates with precision, operates with executive presence, and simplifies complexity into actionable direction. Collaborates across functions to align stakeholders and drive measurable outcomes.
- Advanced degree (MBA, PhD, MD, or PharmD) with strong life sciences or business expertise
- Significant experience in biotech/pharma portfolio strategy, corporate strategy, or corporate development
- Proven track record in portfolio governance, strategic planning, and leading complex cross-functional initiatives
- Direct experience partnering with C-suite leaders and preparing or facilitating executive- and Board-level discussions
- Exceptional communication and influence skills, with the ability to align teams across scientific and commercial domains
- Leadership traits suited to an executive-facing role: strategic and structured thinker; highly collaborative and low-ego; confident, concise communicator; outcome-oriented and decisive under ambiguity
Your new team
You will join the Strategy department within Zealand Pharma, working at the intersection of science, commercial strategy, operations, and executive decision-making. The team partners closely with R&D, Commercial, Finance, and Program Leadership and engages regularly with portfolio governance forums, the Executive Leadership Team, and Board preparations.
