Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) – Mental Health Tech - Copenhagen (On-site)
Do you want to be part of transforming how severe mental health disorders are treated — through Avatar-Therapy in Virtual Reality and Telehealth?
Our CE-certified (MDR Class I) software empowers clinicians to help patients with schizophrenia, OCD, eating disorders, and more, by turning therapy into immersive, evidence-based dialogue.
We are the leading Avatar-Therapy in Virtual Reality platform globally for research (currently involved in 10+ clinical trials and studies ranging from North America to APAC), and backed by strong clinical validation, we’re now moving from research to commercialisation — expanding our collaborations and bringing our technology to clinics worldwide.
We’re now looking for a Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) to join our leadership team and play a key role in this next phase of growth. This is a rare opportunity to play an integral role in scaling a groundbreaking therapeutic technology that’s changing lives.
Your Mission
As our CSO, you’ll lead the scientific and regulatory direction of the company while actively helping bridge the gap between clinical research and commercial adoption.
You’ll build and nurture collaborations with top research teams worldwide, ensure regulatory compliance, and contribute to the creation of marketing, communication, and sales materials that translate our science into real-world impact.
You’ll also represent the company at conferences, events, and client meetings — helping shape the conversation around the future of digital mental health.
What You’ll Do
- Expand and manage global research collaborations with clinical and academic institutions.
- Lead the company’s scientific vision and evidence strategy as we scale commercially.
- Oversee regulatory affairs and compliance related frameworks.
- Lead and support funding and grant applications with public and private partners.
- Represent the company in scientific and commercial forums worldwide (regular travel is expected).
- Contribute to commercialisation efforts, from crafting scientific marketing content to participating in client and partner meetings.
- Collaborate closely with product, clinical, and commercial teams to align scientific credibility with market needs.
- Build and lead our scientific and regulatory team as we grow.
What You Bring
- Hold a PhD or advanced degree in Psychology, Psychiatry, Neuroscience, or related field, with clinical and/or research experience from severe mental illness (SMI) (this is a requirement).
- Experienced in leading complex, multi-stakeholder research projects (public or private funding).
- Understand clinical research ecosystems and regulatory pathways (experience with ISO 13485 is a plus, but not a requirement).
- Commercially minded — able to connect scientific excellence with business growth.
- Strong communicator and relationship builder across research, clinical, and industry settings.
- Fluent/native English and professional proficiency of Danish
- Positive, proactive, and entrepreneurial mindset in a dynamic startup environment!
