Animal Technician / Dyretekniker
Would you like to use your skills to make a real difference for patients? And do you thrive in a hands-on, fast-paced research/biotech environment? We are looking for a dedicated full time Animal Technician (Dyretekniker) to join our growing biotech team at Blue Cell Therapeutics.
About Blue Cell Therapeutics
Blue Cell Therapeutics is a Danish biotech company developing allogeneic stem cell therapies with a focus on erectile dysfunction (ED). Our first-in-class lead product, BlueC-231, is designed to restore vascular function and nerve repair, offering the first potentially curative treatment for ED. Joining Blue Cell means becoming part of an ambitious and fast-growing biotech, where your work directly contributes to developing innovative, life-changing therapies for patients.
About the role
As our new Animal Technician, you will become an important member of our in vivo team, working closely with colleagues and contributing to our daily tasks and preclinical studies. At BCT, no two days are the same and you will often be involved in several projects at the same time, which require flexibility and a proactive personality.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Handling, monitoring, and dosing rodents (IV, SC, PO, IP, etc.)
- Performing small and large procedures, such as OGTT and IGTT, catheterization, blood sampling and aseptic surgery
- Performing necropsies and tissue harvesting for downstream analysis
- Preparing samples for qPCR, Western Blot, ELISA, histology and ex vivo assays
- Documenting experimental work and contributing to SOP development
Beyond technical skills, you will play a vital role in supporting our positive and solution-oriented culture, where we help each other succeed and reach the company goal together.
What we are looking for
We know that skills are built over time, and what matters most is your motivation, curiosity, and willingness to learn.
We imagine that you:
- Are educated laboratory technician or similar, and are licensed to work with laboratory animals (FELASA AD, optionally C)
- Practical experience in handling laboratory animals (preferably rodents), and have a strong ethical and moral compass on animal welfare (3Rs)
- Are comfortable with rodent anatomy, and are skilled in performing necropsy, dissections or tissue harvesting
- Work in a structured manner, have an eye for details and thorough documentation practices (e.g. GLP)
- Have wet lab experience, specifically with molecular biology techniques and tissue processing
- Experience with microsurgery or microdissection (a plus, but not a requirement)
Most importantly, you are a team player with a positive mindset, who is not afraid to take initiative and bring good energy to the workplace.
Why join us?
At Blue Cell Therapeutics, you will:
- Contribute to groundbreaking cell therapies that have the potential to transform patient care
- Join a collaborative and trust-based culture, where we support each other and share responsibility for reaching our goals
- Work in a flat and informal organization, where your voice is heard, as we value open dialogue
- Thrive in a startup environment that emphasizes scientific excellence and wellbeing, with room for curiosity, learning and personal development
- Contribute to a workplace that prioritizes animal welfare and ethical standards in every aspect of research
We believe the best results come when we enjoy our work and support each other, both professionally and socially.
