Join the growing Histology team at Minerva Imaging as our new Senior Laboratory Technician
The Histology team at Minerva Imaging generates key data necessary to develop novel treatments/drugs for patients with cancer or heart disease in collaboration with national and international partners. To succeed in this, we are looking for a candidate who will play a central role in the laboratory and who is motivated by hands-on experimental work.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, brings a can-do attitude, and works with attention to detail in a structured way. You take responsibility, think independently, and feel confident voicing your ideas, and can manage tasks on your own while also being a strong team player in an international setting.
The histology team is part of the Department for Molecular and Cellular Biology and consists of a senior laboratory technician, a research assistant, and a principal scientist & team leader, - giving you the chance to have a big impact on the team and our work. The histology team works tightly together with our three pharmacology departments and the nuclear imaging department.
Key responsibilities:
As part of our team, you will work with:
- Histology and staining: Perform routine and advanced procedures including tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, chemical stains, and single-/multiplex IHC/ISH in brightfield and fluorescence.
- Method development and quality: Optimize staining protocols, support method development and validation, troubleshoot workflows, and contribute to quantitative image analysis together with scientists.
- Equipment and lab operations: Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment (e.g., microtome, scanners), manage consumables and reagents, and ensure a safe, well-functioning laboratory environment.
- Documentation and compliance: Write and maintain experimental plans and protocols; ensure accurate documentation and adherence to safety standards.
- Collaboration and flexibility: Work closely with colleagues across disciplines, contribute to a positive team culture, and assist with occasional non-histology or cross-functional tasks.
Experience:
- At least 5 years of relevant histology experience, preferably from the CRO, pharma or biotech industry but other sectors like hospitals are also relevant.
Professional qualifications:
- Education as a Laboratory Technician or similar.
- Substantial experience working in and maintaining a histology laboratory
- Extensive hands on-experience with 2D histology, immunohistochemistry and preferably also ISH (in-situ hybridization)
- Experience with cell culture is an advantage, but not required.
