Astrolight is developing highly secure telecommunication systems for aerospace, defense and governmental applications. Our founding team has more than 20 years of combined experience in fields of radio telecommunications, photonics and satellite technology. IMPORTANT: This is a remote position with occasional travel to Denmark several times per year, including initial onboarding in Vilnius, Lithuania. Employment is through our Danish subsidiary.
As a System Engineer at Astrolight, you will:
- Serve as the technical lead within a multidisciplinary engineering team, overseeing system-level decisions throughout all project phases
- Ensure consistency between high-level architecture and detailed subsystem design, resolving any emerging conflicts
- Coordinate engineering efforts around internal milestones, review gates, and key delivery timelines
- Oversee the technical integrity of documentation delivered by project teams, aligning them with system requirements and architecture
- Facilitate Design Reviews - both virtual and in person and lead structured technical discussions with internal and external stakeholders
- Collaborate with engineers across disciplines:mechanical, optical, electrical, software - to maintain system coherence and resolve integration issues
- Define and manage system-level requirements, ensuring traceability and technical soundness
- Evaluate and present trade-offs to support design and technology selection decisions
- Estimate and manage technical budgets (mass, power, data, link margin, delta-V, energy)
- Coordinate with platform integrators and prepare relevant technical documentation
We expect you to have:
- Strong critical thinking and engineering judgement, you understand the reasoning behind every requirement and decision
- A technical degree in Mechatronics, Aerospace Engineering, Physics or a related field
- A solid grasp of fundamental physical principles, with a focus on real-world system behavior
- A strong sense of technical ownership - your work directly impacts mission success
- Ability to work autonomously and collaborate effectively in team settings
- Hands-on experience across multiple engineering domains (e.g., RF, mechanical, electronics, control systems)
- Clear communication skills - you’ll be expected to contribute to discussions and communicate with peers and partners
- Experience working with requirement management systems is an advantage
- Familiarity with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools and practices is beneficial (nice to have)
- Optical knowledge is an advantage
- Willingness to travel occasionally to support customers or internal integration campaigns

Salary Range
- Mid-level applicants: Starting from €3,500 gross
