You will be responsible for developing and executing the company’s external and internal communications strategies and fostering relationships with the media and other key stakeholders. You will play a critical role in shaping Zealand Pharma’s brand reputation and ensuring a consistent and compelling corporate narrative. The ideal candidate must also have a demonstrated talent for creating and delivering powerful and engaging stories. As a growing biotech company with an exciting pipeline of innovative therapies, we are looking for a strategic communicator who can effectively tell our story and enhance our profile and visibility in the industry. This is a newly created position with initially one communications specialist reporting into you. You will work closely with the executive team and report directly to our Chief Financial Officer.
Responsibilities
- Build and execute communications strategies and plans to support Zealand Pharma’s business goals and initiatives
- Develop and implement a comprehensive media strategy to enhance the company’s public profile and reputation within the biotech and life science industries, monitoring coverage, industry trends and public sentiment to provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and key media influencers across platforms, and manage press inquiries.
- Act as a company spokesperson, representing the company’s voice accurately and effectively to external stakeholders.
- Craft compelling messaging, press releases, speeches, and other external communications materials that highlight the company’s growing pipeline and therapy areas.
- Lead digital communication efforts, including social media strategy and execution, to engage audiences and amplify Zealand Pharma’s brand presence online.
- Lead internal communications efforts to ensure alignment and engagement across the organization, fostering our culture of empowerment and trust.
- Drive thought leadership initiatives, positioning the company as a trusted industry voice and a leader in biotech innovation.
- Communicate Zealand Pharma’s sustainability strategy and initiatives, highlighting the company’s overall contribution to society.
- Oversee media training for company executives and other spokespersons to ensure consistent and confident public representation.
- Manage communications agencies and external consultants to optimize impact and efficiency.
Candidate profile
The successful candidate will possess most or all of the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Extensive experience in media relations, public relations, or corporate communications, preferably within a biotech, pharmaceutical, or healthcare setting.
- Proven track record of securing high-profile media placements and strong relationships with national and international media contacts, particularly in the life sciences sector
- Experience in developing and managing complex and comprehensive communication strategies.
- Good communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability maneuver at all levels in the organization.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to translate complex scientific information into clear, engaging narratives.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive and results-driven approach.
- Experience managing PR agencies and external partners.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
