VP of Development – MedTech / Optical Technology
Odense, Denmark
Take the lead in developing a potentially groundbreaking medical technology that could change how millions of people living with diabetes monitor their glucose levels.
You’ll lead a team of 15–20 scientists and engineers, working with advanced optical and photonics technology to develop a non-invasive glucose monitoring device.
You’ll have a significant influence over the company’s technical direction, development priorities and long-term strategy. Rather than simply managing projects, you’ll be making the technical decisions that help turn promising scientific innovations into a commercially viable medical device.
What you’ll do
You’ll lead a multidisciplinary R&D team bringing together expertise in optical physics, photonics, electronics, firmware and engineering whilst oversee further development and miniaturization of the company’s product.
You’ll also be responsible for setting technical priorities, managing development budgets and identifying external partners or technologies that could accelerate progress.
Given the stage that this company is in and the size of the team we would ideally see that you can be on-site for 3-4 days per week as a minimum.
What you’ll need
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary R&D or technology development teams. Including good understanding of electronics, hardware and firmware
- Experience from the medical device industry, including knowledge of its regulatory requirements, is highly meriting.
- A background within photonics is a plus but not a requirement.
- Experience taking complex technologies from early-stage development towards functional products would be a big plus. Essentially having gone through one or two development cycles in the past, ideally in the medtech industry.
- Ability to combine strategic leadership with hands-on technical involvement
