Finance & Operations Manager
Full-time | On-site in Søborg/Copenhagen | Visibuilt
Join Visibuilt as we take a fossil-free, fermentation-based binder from the lab to the market. We are looking for an experienced financial controller who would like to be the person keeping a growing climate-tech company financially sound, investor-ready and well organised – from the month-end close to the board pack.
Location: Søborg, Greater Copenhagen (on-site)
Start: 1 January 2027 (or as soon as possible)
Type: Full-time employment
Salary: Competitive and in line with the market, reflecting your experience and responsibilities
Reports to: CEO & Founder, Line Kloster Pedersen
Core focus: Financial control and reporting, operations, grants, board and shareholder administration, financial modelling and fundraising support
About Visibuilt
Visibuilt is building fossil-free alternatives for pavement materials. Our core technology, visiBINDER, is a 100% bio-based binder developed from mycelium and designed to reduce energy use and CO2 emissions in infrastructure materials. We are based at Alfa Laval Innovation House in Søborg, just outside Copenhagen.
The role
Visibuilt has grown from an early-stage startup into a company with institutional investors, an active board, several public grant projects and an R&D team whose decisions need solid numbers behind them. You will be our finance and administration function: the person who makes sure our numbers are accurate, on time and useful for decisions – and who owns the operational backbone of the company.
· A broad role with real ownership. You will be our only finance person, so you plan and manage your own areas – including the operational processes that keep a growing team running – in close collaboration with the CEO, our CTO, our external accountant and payroll administration, auditors and lawyers.
· Cash is king. You will own the cashflow budget and rolling forecast, so we always know our runway and spot pinch points well before they arrive. With several grant projects running, customer project, and heavy R&D, this means keeping a close eye on when money actually lands compared with when we spend it.
· You oversee the bookkeeping. Our external accountant handles the day-to-day entries. Your job is to monitor, quality-check and follow up on their work, and to turn it into reporting the CEO and board can rely on.
· Real business impact. You get to understand our business and provide market analyses for business development and cost models for R&D.
Responsibilities
Financial control
· Monitor and quality-check invoicing, payroll and bookkeeping carried out by our external accountant (e-conomic) and approve payments together with management.
Reporting, audit & annual accounts
· Deliver monthly finance reporting, budget-vs-actual and runway forecasts for management and the board.
· Take responsibility for the annual accounts and the audit process with our auditors, meeting investor deadlines.
Operations ownership
· Look after our people operations: keep the employee handbook and policies up to date, and run holiday planning and time registration.
Grant management
· Manage our public grant portfolio (e.g. EUDP): project budgets, timesheets, reimbursement claims and progress reporting.
· Support new grant applications with budgets and co-financing plans.
Board, shareholders & governance
· Act as board secretary: prepare board packs, take minutes and follow up on decisions.
· Manage shareholder matters – shareholder register, warrant programmes, general meetings, investor reporting and filings with the Danish Business Authority – with support from our lawyers. You coordinate and execute a quarterly shareholder report with the CEO.
Support for business development and R&D
· Build market analyses (market sizing, segments, pricing) that support the CEO’s commercial work.
· Build cost models together with R&D and production, so technical choices are informed by unit economics.
Fundraising
· Be responsible for the financial projections and scenario models used in fundraising and investor dialogues.
· Maintain our data room and coordinate due diligence processes.
What we are looking for
· Solid experience in finance – typically 8 years or more – including time as financial controller, finance manager or similar. Experience from audit also counts.
· Experience with the full finance cycle: month-end close, management reporting, annual accounts and working with auditors.
· Experience reviewing the work of an external accounting partner.
· Strong Excel skills: you are comfortable building budgets, forecasts and cost models from scratch.
· You can explain financial analysis clearly to non-finance colleagues, and you are open about your assumptions.
· Professional English is required; Danish is strongly preferred.
Nice to have
· Experience from a start-up, scale-up or SME where you covered a broad range of tasks.
· Experience managing and reporting on public grants (e.g. Innovation Fund Denmark, EUDP, MUDP or Horizon Europe), including timesheets and reimbursement claims.
· Fundraising experience: data rooms, due diligence and investor financial models.
· Board secretary work, shareholder registers, general meetings and company filings.
· Background from manufacturing, materials or construction – helpful for unit-cost models.
· Comfortable using AI and automation to speed up routine finance work.
How you work
· Reliable. You are on time and prepared – especially with investors, auditors and other external partners.
· You follow through. You see tasks through to completion, and ask for input along the way when you need it.
· You share your view openly. You raise questions and concerns in the room, and once a decision is made you support it fully.
· You work in shared systems. Everything lives in the company’s systems and shared drive and you have an eye for making systems more efficient to save time.
· You use AI with care. For speed – never as a replacement for analysis you have checked yourself.
What success looks like
· Monthly reporting is delivered on time and of high quality.
· The annual accounts and audit are completed on time and without surprises.
· Grant reimbursements and reports are submitted on time, with no rework.
· Our financial and cost models are up to date and actively used in R&D, business development and fundraising decisions.
· The data room is kept due-diligence ready, and our operational processes simply work.
What you can expect from Visibuilt
Visibuilt offers the chance to shape the finance and operations of a climate-tech company at a defining stage, in a small, committed team where your work has direct impact.
· A key role close to the CEO and the board, with real influence on how Visibuilt is run and scaled.
· An attractive salary package incl. pension, and participation in our healthcare program.
· A mission-driven company building bio-based alternatives for construction materials.
· On-site collaboration in Søborg at Alfa Laval Innovation House.
· Flexible working hours, so you can plan your work around the rest of your life.
· Participation in our warrant program and 30 days of paid holiday each year.
