Senior Scientist, Platform Chemistry
Location: Copenhagen, Denmark
Employment type: Full-time
Are you passionate about peptide chemistry and platform innovation?
We are looking for an experienced Senior Scientist to join a Platform Chemistry team in Copenhagen.
This role combines hands-on peptide chemistry, platform development and cross-functional collaboration. You will help deliver macrocyclic peptide libraries, improve automated chemistry workflows and connect AI-driven molecular design with practical experimental execution.
About the organisation
You will join an innovative biotechnology company developing orally available macrocycle therapeutics for challenging biological targets.
The organisation combines artificial intelligence, automated synthesis, high-throughput experimentation and real-compound data to support drug discovery, particularly within inflammation and immune-driven diseases.
The Copenhagen site includes modern laboratory facilities and a multidisciplinary team of chemists, data scientists and drug-discovery specialists.
About the role
As Senior Scientist, you will independently plan and execute complex peptide chemistry activities across several discovery projects.
You will work closely with Platform Chemistry, Design, Data Science and Discovery teams to ensure that computational molecular designs are synthetically feasible and can be translated into robust laboratory workflows.
Reporting to the VP of Platform Chemistry, you will also help improve synthetic methods, automation, laboratory processes and platform technologies.
Your responsibilities
You will:
- Plan and execute complex peptide synthesis and macrocyclic library production.
- Troubleshoot synthesis, purification and analytical challenges.
- Deliver high-quality chemistry across multiple discovery projects.
- Improve synthetic methods, laboratory automation and platform workflows.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies and experimental approaches.
- Collaborate with Design and Data Science teams on AI-driven molecular designs.
- Assess synthetic feasibility and translate designs into practical workflows.
- Represent Platform Chemistry in multidisciplinary project teams.
- Support project planning, prioritisation and scientific decision-making.
- Improve experimental quality, efficiency and reproducibility.
Your background
We are looking for someone with:
- A PhD in chemistry, pharmaceutical science or a related field.
- More than five years of relevant industry experience.
- Strong experience in peptide chemistry, macrocycles or related synthetic chemistry.
- Practical expertise in peptide synthesis, purification and analytical techniques.
- Experience with automated laboratory equipment, such as peptide synthesisers and liquid handlers.
- The ability to independently plan, execute and troubleshoot complex experimental workflows.
- Strong scientific judgement and clear communication skills.
- Experience working effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Experience with laboratory automation, AI-driven molecular design or high-throughput chemistry is an advantage.
Your personal qualities
You are likely to succeed if you:
- Enjoy solving complex scientific problems.
- Take ownership of quality and project delivery.
- Work independently while collaborating effectively with others.
- Are proactive and motivated by continuous improvement.
- Are curious about automation, data science and AI-supported drug discovery.
- Communicate scientific risks, results and recommendations clearly.
What you can expect
This role offers:
- A senior scientific position in an innovative biotechnology environment.
- Direct involvement in active drug-discovery programmes.
- Advanced peptide chemistry, automation and analytical technologies.
- Close collaboration with experienced scientists across several disciplines.
- The opportunity to influence chemistry workflows and platform development.
- A modern laboratory environment in Copenhagen.
- Strong opportunities for scientific and professional growth.
Why this role matters
AI-generated molecular designs only become valuable when they can be successfully produced and tested.
Your work will help turn digital designs into real macrocyclic compounds. By combining peptide chemistry, scientific judgement and platform expertise, you will directly support the discovery of potential future medicines.
