Director/VP Licensing & IP
Take ownership of the IP strategy behind advanced non-invasive healthtech.
The CEO has been leading the IP work so far, but the business has reached the point where this now needs a dedicated person to take it on properly. You’ll become the person who leads the IP work day to day, keeps track of what is being filed, strengthens the patent portfolio and makes sure important innovation is captured before it is missed.
You’ll work across optical system design, spectrometer technology and multivariate analysis, which are the key areas where the company is currently filing IP. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be expected to understand what is happening technically, identify where the IP opportunities are, and drive the process yourself.
You’ll report directly to the CEO, giving you close access to the person currently holding the work and the chance to take real ownership quickly.
Licensing may also become part of the role so you’ll help prepare the ground for that by creating sensible licensing frameworks and understanding where commercial opportunities could sit.
What you’ll do
- You’ll lead the IP work across the business, taking over responsibility from the CEO and making sure the company has a clear, active and wellmanaged patent strategy.
- You’ll work closely with technical teams to identify IP opportunities in optical system design, spectrometers and multivariate analysis, helping turn technical development into protected commercial value.
- You’ll keep track of what has been filed, what should be filed next, and where the current portfolio needs to be strengthened. That may include reviewing older patents, understanding expiry timelines and identifying where additional filings could improve the company’s position.
- You’ll also support future licensing opportunities by helping shape potential licensing models, deal frameworks and partner discussions when the timing is right.
- Continuously report on the progress to the senior management and board.
What you’ll need
- Strong experience working with intellectual property rights
- Experience with licensing agreements or commercial IP models
- Understanding of optical system design, spectrometry, photonics and similar. In addition you should also be well versed in multivariate analysis
- Medtech, healthtech or deep-tech experience would be an advantage
