Your new position
As Head of Biostatistics, you will define and execute the biostatistics strategy, ensure alignment with global regulatory requirements, establish and maintain standards and provide guidance to trial design and methodology for clinical trials. This is a people leadership role with focus on leading, building and developing a team of skilled Biostatisticians contributing to key portfolio priorities.
You Will Have a Broad And Impactful Role, Including
- Provide day-to-day leadership for Biostatisticians
- Lead, coach, and develop the Biostatistics function, including capability building
- Shape and drive biostatistics strategy across the development value chain
- Guide clinical development plans and evidence generation to support decision-making
- Oversee resource planning, outsourcing strategies, and vendor oversight
- Guide on briefing documents, responses to health authority questions and regulatory submissions
- Act as a close partner to cross-functional Head of Department stakeholders (e.g., Medical & Science, Clinical Operations, Regulatory, Safety, Data Management and Statistical Programming)
Your profile
The ideal candidate is an inclusive people leader with a proactive and collaborative mindset, sound scientific judgement, and the ability to lead through influence and clarity. The role requires comfort operating in a complex, cross-functional environment and the ability to translate biostatistics insight into clear direction for teams and projects.
- Master’s degree or PhD in statistics or mathematics
- Demonstrated people leadership experience in a matrix, cross-functional environment
- Extensive biostatistics experience, e.g. as project statistician, within the biotech and/or pharmaceutical industry
- Experience supporting regulatory submissions and interactions
- Proficiency with statistical methodologies, tools and standards used in clinical development
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to influence at senior leadership level
- High standards for quality, integrity, and compliance
Your new team
You will head the Biostatistics department within Biometrics, leading a team of highly skilled and dedicated Biostatisticians. Biometrics consists of three departments (Data Management, Statistical Programming and Biostatistics) and you will be part of the Biometrics leadership team. Biostatistics plays a central role in shaping the clinical development strategy for Zealand’s compounds, ensuring scientific rigor across development programs and to interactions with regulatory authorities.
