At Gubra, we are expanding our Drug Discovery Innovation capabilities with a strengthened focus on integrating human data, computational approaches, and disease biology into early discovery.
We believe the next generation of therapeutic breakthroughs will come from combining deep biological understanding with large-scale human datasets, translational insight, and innovative target discovery approaches.
This role offers a unique opportunity to help shape Gubra’s next-generation discovery engine by strengthening how we identify, prioritize, and advance novel therapeutic opportunities across cardiometabolic disease, inflammation & immunology, and age-related diseases.
You will have significant scientific influence and contribute both to discovery programs and to the development of scalable and innovative approaches across early discovery.
Your new department
Drug Discovery Innovation (DDI) is at the forefront of Gubra’s efforts to build the next generation of early therapeutic discovery.
The department combines expertise across disease biology, translational science, computational discovery, and early therapeutic research to identify and advance novel therapeutic opportunities within cardiometabolic disease, inflammation & immunology, and age-related diseases.
As part of Gubra’s strengthened focus on pipeline innovation and early discovery, DDI plays a central role in shaping discovery strategies, driving target identification efforts, and building scalable, data-driven discovery capabilities.
We work in a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment where scientific curiosity, translational thinking, and innovation are central to how we discover and advance new therapeutic opportunities.
The role
As an experienced Scientist, you will work at the interface of biology, human data, and early drug discovery to identify and prioritize novel therapeutic targets.
You will play a central role in translating large-scale human datasets, omics analyses, and computational insights into actionable biological hypotheses and discovery opportunities.
Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will help strengthen Gubra’s data-driven discovery capabilities and contribute to innovative approaches for target identification and evaluation.
The level of the position will be matched to the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
Your responsibilities
- Drive discovery campaigns focused on identifying and advancing novel therapeutic targets
- Leverage human genetics, omics datasets, and public databases to strengthen target prioritization and mechanistic understanding
- Integrate disease biology, translational insights, and competitive intelligence to define target hypotheses and assess opportunities and risks
- Collaborate across scientific disciplines to support early validation and progression of target concepts
- Deliver clear scientific recommendations to support data-driven decision-making
- Contribute to the development of scalable computational and data-driven approaches for target discovery and prioritization
- Establish and maintain productive external scientific collaborations where relevant
Your profile
You hold a PhD in life sciences and bring experience from biotech and/or pharmaceutical drug discovery environments.
In addition, you will likely:
- Have 5+ years of experience within target identification and early drug discovery
- Have hands-on experience applying human data, omics, and computational approaches in therapeutic discovery
- Bring strong disease biology expertise within cardiometabolic disease, inflammation & immunology, and/or age-related diseases
- Be able to independently drive scientific initiatives and target evaluations
- Thrive in collaborative and interdisciplinary environments
- Possess strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
Experience translating complex human datasets into actionable biological insights and therapeutic hypotheses is considered an advantage.
Why join Gubra?
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to building the next generation of data-driven drug discovery at Gubra.
You will join a highly collaborative organization where scientific innovation, agility, and translational thinking are central to how we discover and advance new therapeutic opportunities.
At Gubra, you will have the opportunity to combine biology and human data in an integrated discovery environment while helping shape modern approaches to early therapeutic discovery with direct impact on future pipeline development.

About Gubra
Gubra is an ambitious contract research organisation (CRO) and biotech company striving for excellence at all levels. We insist on doing things efficiently – and often differently - to reach the results we aim for. Our vision is to become leaders in the fight for a more sustainable and healthier world. We do that by facilitating the discovery of new medicine, and by acting and inspiring others to fight the ongoing climate and biodiversity crises.
Gubra’s activities are focused on the early stages of drug development and are organised in two highly synergistic business areas: CRO Services and Discovery & Partnerships (D&P). We generate our revenue by performing research for life science companies as well as by partnering projects from our discovery and development pipeline.
Our therapeutic focus is within metabolic and fibrotic diseases, and we specialize in in vivo pharmacology, ex vivo assays, drug profiling, histology, stereology and whole brain and organ imaging. In addition, we offer a full palette of advanced transcriptomics. Our ML/AI-driven peptide drug discovery platform streaMLine enables us to rapidly develop a peptide hit into a non-clinical candidate ready for development. Through a constant focus on high quality, scientific excellence, speed, and solid teamwork we have established ourselves as a highly professional and competent partner in the market.
People are our greatest asset, and our team consists of around 300 employees. The mix of people from different cultures and educational backgrounds combined with our entrepreneurial mindset have greatly impacted our working environment, which is characterized by entrepreneurial drive, scientific curiosity, and teamwork – we join forces!
