Lead Data and AI Engineer
Minerva is scaling rapidly, and we are now looking for a next‑generation Lead Data and AI Engineer. A key individual who thrives on designing and delivering the workflows that power a genuinely data‑driven business, and who is excited to work at the frontier of applied analytics and AI in a fast‑growing, PE‑backed biotech company.
This role sits at the intersection of data, strategy and AI, reporting directly to the Strategy Director. We are not looking for a traditional data engineer or dashboard builder. We are looking for someone who wants to help lead Minerva Imaging’s transform into a truly data‑driven, AI‑enabled biotech.
What you will do
1. Data foundations
- Build out and own master data definitions and ontology across the business functions
- Build out, own and evolve Minerva Imaging’s data platform
- Partner with IT, Business Development, Operations and Finance to ensure data quality, reliability, and accessibility
2. Business insight & strategy alignment
- Turn complex datasets into clear recommendations that drive commercial and operational outcomes
- Challenge assumptions, ask the right questions, and bring a fact‑based, analytical mindset into discussions
- Work closely with Strategy and leadership to align analytics with business priorities
3. Product mindset
- Build analytics products (dashboards, reporting, scoring models, algorithms) that fit seamlessly into business workflows
- Translate business problems into data requirements - not just code to specifications
4. AI, prompting & analytics
- Turn ambiguous business questions into structured analytical workflows
- Build and deploy automation & AI‑driven tools and workflows that speed up decision‑making across the organization (BD, Operations, Finance, etc.)
- Use advanced prompting to generate the analysis of the business needs - fast, accurate, and actionable
- Partake in the upskilling of AI capabilities across the Minerva team
What you bring to the role
We are looking for a strong BI Developer who enjoys working closely with the business and translating data into meaningful insights. You are curious and analytical, and you are motivated by understanding the underlying business problem - not just delivering a technical solution.
You have solid experience working with data across the full BI lifecycle, from modelling and transformation to visualization. At the same time, you take pride in delivering reliable data that supports decision-critical reporting. You also work responsibly and securely with data, including when dealing with sensitive or confidential information.
We imagine that you:
- Are a strong BI developer who enjoys working closely with the business
- Are proficient in data modelling, data transformation, and dashboard design
- Have experience ensuring high-quality data for decision-critical reporting (e.g., financial data)
- Are experienced in handling sensitive and confidential data securely
- Are comfortable using AI tools, prompting techniques, automation, and emerging technologies
- Are curious and enjoy experimenting, iterating, and challenging existing solutions
- Enjoy working with stakeholders, understanding the “why,” and shaping the problem
- Thrive in fast-moving environments with a degree of ambiguity
- Are motivated to build new solutions rather than primarily maintaining legacy systems
- Are a strong verbal and written communicator
Qualifications
You bring a strong combination of data expertise and business understanding, with the ability to translate business needs into data-driven insights. In addition, you:
- have a degree in statistics, mathematics, physics, engineering, computer science, industrial economics or similar
- 2–4 years of experience developing data platforms and business intelligence solutions, ideally using Microsoft Azure components (Fabric, Power BI, etc.), gained through a role in a data/digital/IT consulting firm, an investment firm, or a high‑growth tech/biotech company
