Established by the Novo Nordisk Foundation in 2018, BII promotes collaborative, interdisciplinary, research-based innovation in the Life Sciences, Quantum Science, and Deep Tech and helps build viable start-up companies to ensure that such innovations become widely available for the benefit of people and society.
As a Laboratory Coordinator, you will become part of a passionate team of dedicated colleagues supporting the daily operational management of laboratories in the BII building. The team supports 50+ life science and deep tech startups and projects through well-functioning and efficiently run lab facilities. The role does not involve active research work; instead, you enable the science by running the laboratories behind it. Your Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Daily operational coordination of laboratories in the BII building
- Responsible for laboratory and chemical safety including training
- Manage laboratory gas, water, waste management and other services
- Handle permits and registrations needed for laboratory-based activities
- Organize onboarding, training and information sessions for BII laboratory users
- Interact with startups and projects regarding needs for BII laboratories
- Purchasing of equipment and supplies for BII laboratories
- Superuser of common laboratory equipment
Professional & Personal Qualifications
We are looking for a motivated, purpose-driven colleague, who brings the following:
- Master’s or laboratory technician degree in life science or related field or equivalent experience in life science laboratory operations.
- 5-8 years of experience working in life science and chemistry laboratories
- Experience within laboratory safety management (both GMO permits and handling of chemicals)
- Broad experience with life science and chemistry laboratory equipment, supplies and processes
- Administrative experience including purchasing
- Ability to independently drive processes and projects
- Fluent in spoken and written English and Danish
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build good relationships with many stakeholders.
