Help Shape the Future of Water Technology
Aquaporin A/S is a pioneering water technology company on a mission to rethink how the world treats and uses water. With our award-winning Aquaporin Inside® biotechnology, we enable highly efficient filtration, separation, and concentration processes - creating new possibilities in industrial, medical, and beverage applications. Our Forward Osmosis (FO) technology already plays a crucial role in developing innovative processes that lead to new products and improved production methods. And we’re just getting started!
The Role
We are looking for an Intellectual Property Attorney to take ownership of Aquaporin’s global IP portfolio and ensure our innovations are protected and aligned with business growth. This is a strategic role where you will work at the intersection of science, business, and law - collaborating closely with our CTO, R\&D teams, and commercial organization.
While the specialized legal aspects of IP law are efficiently handled by our experienced external European Patent Attorney, your focus will be on embedding IP best practices internally. You will ensure that IP considerations are integrated into development and commercialization processes, enabling Aquaporin to protect its core technology and leverage it in new applications.
This is a role with broad responsibility and room to grow - ideal for someone with solid IP experience who is ready to take ownership and influence across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic development, protection, and management of Aquaporin’s global IP portfolio.
- Drive patent filing, prosecution, and portfolio reviews in collaboration with external counsel.
- Work closely with inventors, project teams, and management to capture and protect high-value innovations.
- Implement best practices for IP protection across R\&D and commercial teams to support business growth.
- Monitor competitive landscapes and freedom-to-operate, advising on risks and opportunities.
- Build IP awareness through training and guidance across the organization.
- Support negotiations in collaborations, licensing, and partnerships where IP plays a central role.
- Manage IP budget and ensure efficient resource use.
What You Bring
- A strong IP mindset and ability to connect IP strategy with business objectives.
- Technical degree in engineering, science, or biotechnology. (European Patent Attorney authorization is not required)
- At least 5 years of experience in patent drafting, portfolio management, and IP strategy.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence internal processes.
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.
- A proactive, collaborative approach - protecting today while anticipating tomorrow.
Location: The position is based in Kongens Lyngby, just North of Copenhagen, Denmark.
