The BioInnovation Institute Foundation (BII) is an international non-profit foundation supported by the Novo Nordisk Foundation. Among other things, BII operates an incubator to accelerate world-class life science innovation that by early life science start-ups for the benefit of people and society.
BII, located in Copenhagen, Denmark, offers start-ups and early-stage projects within health tech, therapeutics and bio-industrials state-of-the-art labs, vibrant office facilities, business development, start-up business incubation, access to high-level mentoring and international networks, plus unique funding opportunities of up to 1.3 million euro per start-up and 2.4 million euro per project.

The Job
In close collaboration with the Emerging Markets team, which is couched in the Venture Creation Team, you will support their efforts to establish a strong, high-quality model for supporting and creating opportunities for Nordic life science start-ups wishing to take their business to Emerging Markets (Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs)).
You will have the chance to get hands-on experience working within a vibrant culture of venture capital and startups on systems building related to strengthening the core proposition of the Emerging Markets track.
You will assist with a range of tasks including:
- Developing and populating a knowledge reference library specifically for Emerging Markets - India and 3-4 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. The library will cover topics such as (but not limited to) country statistics and country sector needs, the start-up environment, regulatory requirements, healthcare system modes of delivery, VC network, etc.
- Collecting and compiling a list of relevant local stakeholders (VCs, innovation hubs, government agencies, incubators etc.) and a list of relevant financing opportunities both for internal use and in service of the startups
- Designing a startup engagement /communication plan relating to attracting BII startups to the Emerging Markets offering and keeping engagement strong
- Supporting the team with general ad hoc administrative tasks, including assistance with PowerPoint presentations and communication supportive tasks
- Organizing and executing events in relation to the Emerging Markets offerings
Professional and Personal Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who:
- Are a 2nd or 3rd year Bachelor student or have just started an MSc degree in Business Management (innovation, business development, entrepreneurship), Economics or Global Health, with an interest in Emerging Markets.
- Possess communication skills and are proficient in verbal and written English
- Can take initiative and engage with stakeholders globally as well as with colleagues from various teams and backgrounds with great energy.
- Can work independently, accurately, and efficiently within agreed deadlines.
- Are service-minded, analytical, pay attention to details and work in a structured manner with high-quality standards.
- Are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with several key stakeholders.
- Are team players who thrive in a collaborative work environment and show dedication to their work with a willingness to learn.
- Are passionate about creating impact and interested in working in the LMIC context
The working hours are 10-20 hours per week with flexibility to accommodate studies and exams.
