About the Role
The Associate Director / Director, IT Business Operations function is the IT business lead within the organization and has the mandate to establish a relationship to increase the value realized from IT assets, investments, and capabilities. This role is responsible for understanding the business needs, assisting in the prioritization of projects, ensuring that projects align with the technology that provides maximum return on investment, and directing IT strategy in support of the overall business strategy. The Associate Director/Director IT Business Operations is the liaison between IT and the business functions, and a trusted advisor. As such, this role requires significant knowledge in subject matters pertaining to both IT Systems, IT Operations and the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Must have a thorough understanding of the business to identify its needs and envisage business solutions.
- Work with IT and ensuring IT initiatives have business input and are fully engaged in roll out planning.
- Ensure the business functions understand the technology solution, overall solution delivery, and compliance to governance processes, architecture standards, etc.
- Work with stakeholders and project teams to prioritize requirements.
- Develop recommendations for joint or coordinated application project delivery across business functions in collaboration with IT.
- Champion innovation in the organization

- Look for opportunities to leverage technology to achieve business unit objectives.
- Ensure the alignment of projects with the technology that provides maximum ROI
- Engage and collaborate with the Business to deliver IT solutions and services aligned with business strategy
- Prepare cost benefit analyses for projects and assist business stakeholders in prioritizing projects.
- Work with stakeholders and project teams to prioritize requirements.
- Ensure the alignment of projects with the technology that provides maximum ROI.
- Research, review, and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirements-gathering processes, and develop strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes.
- Develop and manage the relationship between IT and internal and external partners (business functions, service providers).
- Drive Service Level Agreement (SLA) negotiations to enhance value to the business functions.
- Identify and leverage IT synergy potential across business functions.
- Develop recommendations for joint or coordinated application project delivery across business functions in collaboration with IT.
- Manage IT projects for the assigned business functions to ensure on time and on budget delivery.
- Follow up and supervise the selection of appropriate solutions.
- Ensure that the functional requirements are fully met by the solution.
- Develop and communicate IT innovation and awareness programs.
- Ability to understand and communicate complex business requirements to the technology teams.
- Ability to support local site with technical issues
Key Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience with IT and 3-5 years’ experience supporting enterprise applications and operation.
- Customer Support experience
- Strong workload management skills
- Ability to plan and schedule projects and work under deadlines – must multi-task effectively
- In-depth, hands-on knowledge of and experience with enterprise and desktop applications.
- Proven experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies, and issue resolution techniques.
- Able to develop and interpret technical documentation for training and end user procedures.
- Knowledge of trends in technology relating to software applications.
- Experience of service level management.
- Demonstrable ability to think strategically and creatively while applying sound business judgment and quantitative analytics.
- Ability to communicate complex issues and influence others internally and externally.
- Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
- This is a hybrid role, and the successful candidate must be able to commute between Nutley & Princeton, New Jersey. This role will also require travel to Denmark.
