The External Reporting and Technical Accounting Manager plays a vital role in the external reporting cycle both as a preparer and reviewer of periodic filings with the SEC and researching and evaluating technical accounting matters such as revenue recognition and inventory management, including overseeing all activities to ensure revenue and inventory are properly accounted for in accordance with U.S. GAAP. This position is expected to work closely together with business unit partners to ensure timely, successful completion of month-end close, completeness and accuracy of financial reports, and adherence to procedures and internal controls, among other duties.

Responsibilities:
- Preparing and reviewing draft reports, and work papers to support various periodic filings with the SEC (primarily Form 10-K and 10-Q)
- Researching technical accounting issues and preparing memorandums to document proper accounting and disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Remain informed of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting developments and collaborating with accounting policy to assess the impact to the company
- Work autonomously to develop solutions to complex accounting / disclosure issues and make recommendations to management
- Manage the accounting for the Order to Cash process in accordance with ASC 606 and internal policies
- Responsible for complex accounting areas, such as excess and obsolete inventory, ASC 606 revenue recognition compliance, and gross-to-net adjustments, together with external stakeholders
- Prepare monthly reporting schedules for your areas of responsibility
- Collaborating with accounting, legal, investor relations and other business unit partners to ensure accurate reporting of results and messaging to external stakeholders
- Assisting with the preparation of the audit committee and board of directors’ materials
- Managing ad hoc projects and requests for information, as needed
Core Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SOX/internal controls
- Public company experience, preferred
- Application of Technical Accounting principles, particularly in revenue and/or inventory accounting
- Prior experience preparing technical accounting memorandums, a plus
- Financial reporting/SEC filings or related, a plus
- CPA, a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel
- Strong communications and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lead multiple projects under tight deadlines
- Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or other business-related field, or relevant work experience in field; advanced degree a plus
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience
- Life sciences or pharmaceutical experience, a plus
