We are looking for a new Head of Commercial and Partnerships finance, who will play a key role in our Finance organization. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring our innovative peptide-based medicines reach patients, driving financial performance, and collaborating across departments.
The position reports to the VP Finance & Accounting. You will be working out of Zealand Pharma’s group offices in Søborg, Denmark or in Boston, USA.
Responsibilities
Financial planning & analysis:
- Partner with key stakeholders to develop and manage annual budgets, long-range plans, and quarterly forecasts for the commercial and partnership activities.
- Lead the development of financial models to support product launches, sales forecasting, and revenue optimization strategies for commercialized or partnered drugs.
Business partnering:
- Collaborate with commercial teams to drive profitability through effective pricing strategies, cost management, and revenue maximization.
- Provide financial support in analyzing pricing models and reimbursement strategies, ensuring alignment with market access goals.
- Analyze market trends, competitor performance, and internal financial data to provide actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
Commercialization and partnership execution:
- Lead for finance the execution of commercialization activities, with a focus on the US market, supervising the performance of outsourced partners (of which potential 3PL partners and external accounting services for Revenue Gross to Net accruals and forecasts), and coordinating within the finance team to ensure Zealand Pharma meets all regulatory requirements.
- Lead month end close and reporting activities related to product commercialization or partnerships. Responsible for establishing, managing, and maintaining all processes and accounting procedures that will facilitate an accurate and efficient monthly close for all Gross to Net accounting.
- Contribute and supervise outsourced partners in government pricing calculations and reporting requirements.
- Develop technical accounting memorandums, with the support of external support as required, in relation to partnership contracts or other alliances / commercialization matters.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks related to market access, pricing pressures, and regulatory changes. Lead internal controls requirements in the area of commercialization and partnership.
- Be the Zealand Pharma point of contact with peer external representatives at the partner companies.
- Supervise systems integrations with third parties such as outsources services or logistics partners. Participate in the design of commercial product costing and inventory process flow in ERP system by working with the implementation team members, including testing and cut-over in all phases of commercial planning.
Finance transformation:
- In collaboration with finance and non-finance stakeholders, develop systems and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness of commercial and partnership activities.
Candidate profile
The Head of Commercial and Partnerships finance is a critical individual contributor role responsible for driving financial strategy and providing key financial insights for the commercialization of pharmaceutical products, with a focus on the U.S. market. This role works closely with cross-functional teams, including commercial, business development, alliances, legal, operations, strategy and the rest of the finance team, to ensure that financial targets are met, and that the business operates efficiently and profitably within a highly regulated and competitive market.
The Head of Commercial and Partnerships finance will be responsible for partnering with the organization to maximize the value creation from commercial and partnership activities.
This role requires a strategic leader who is also hands-on, with the ability to navigate complex issues, coordinating with internal and external partners, and contribute to the overall financial health of our commercial and partnerships activities.

Qualifications
- Master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Several years of experience in a finance role within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, with a focus on the commercialization of drugs.
- Understanding of Revenue accounting within the Pharmaceutical industry, financial statement preparation and other revenue related GAAP / IFRS accounting principles
- Prior role including responsibility for Revenue Recognition, Gross to Net and Government pricing.
- Understanding of pharmaceutical pricing, reimbursement, market access, and regulatory requirements in the U.S.
- Proven expertise in financial modelling, forecasting, budgeting, and profitability analysis.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- English fluency written and spoken is required, Danish is a plus.
