Simsen Diagnostics has the ultimate goal of improving healthcare outcomes for millions of cancer patients through early detection of recurrence and improved cancer management. We are a research spin-out from Sahlgrenska University hospital providing cutting-edge circulating tumor DNA detection, based on our SiMSen-Seq platform.
We are working with biopharmaceutical companies, clinics and academic researchers to provide ultrasensitive DNA sequencing analysis to deliver insights that detect cancer recurrence, treatment resistance and enable swift clinical action using minimally invasive liquid biopsy testing.
As a Senior Scientist you will be responsible for planning, coordination, and implementation of precision medicine projects with related data analyses.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to)
- Performing wet lab experiments (DNA/RNA extraction, sequencing library preparation, sequencing, qPCR, etc.)
- Performing (bioinformatic) data analysis and interpretation
- Handling of secure data transfer to customers
- Managing internal R&D projects
- Supporting customer projects, incl. laboratory work, provisioning data analysis reports and providing technical customer support as needed
- Writing analysis reports
- Supporting R&D and customer projects with relevant expertise, incl. grant applications, technology development
- Working in a regulated environment (Strict quality focus, developing and maintaining laboratory documentation)
- Attending and presenting results at conferences
- Supervision of graduate students, as needed
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in molecular biology, biomedicine, or a related field (Doctoral degree advantageous)
- Extensive wet lab experience (at least 3 years) using molecular techniques (e.g. DNA/RNA sequencing)
- Skilled in collaborating and communicating with others, while also having ability to run projects independently
- Fluency in spoken and written English (Swedish is advantageous)
- Eligible to live and work in Sweden, either through citizenship or through residency status at the time of application. Your application will not be considered without this eligibility. We do not provide financial support for relocation or visa sponsorships.
- Prior experience e.g. supervising master’s students during a PhD
Merits
- Industry experience, knowledge of clinical trials in precision medicine, translational research, medical research or biomarker discovery is meritorious
- Bioinformatics knowledge is advantageous (R, Python, etc.)
- Experience working in a regulated environment (ISO, CLIA, etc.) is advantageous, but not necessary
