Student Assistant for IT– BioInnovation Institute

The BioInnovation Institute (BII) is seeking a Student Assistant to help us build and maintain the IT infrastructure and services needed by the world class life science and deep tech start-ups.
BII is an independent commercial foundation with a not-for-profit objective. Founded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, BII helps build viable start-up companies to ensure that such innovations become widely available for the benefit of human welfare and society. We have established a collaborative workspace in Copenhagen to bring together entrepreneurial researchers and company creators from many different disciplines.
As our student assistant, you will provide technical support and assist in the administration of the organization’s IT infrastructure. This role is ideal for an individual looking to build a career in IT, offering hands-on experience in troubleshooting, system monitoring, and supporting software applications. The IT student assistant will work closely with the IT team to maintain efficient IT operations and help resolve technical issues.
The Job
You will work closely with our IT team (up to 20 hours per week, flexible scheduling around exams and courses) to support the IT operation as well as project work. Our student assistant will also work cross-functionally across many departments and teams within BII to support their working processes.
Key responsibilities of this role include but not limit to following:
- Technical Support: Provide first-level technical support to end users by troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
- Systems/Services Monitoring: Monitor system performance, ensuring the proper functioning of networks, digital services, and related infrastructure.
- Incident Management: Assist in documenting, tracking, and resolving IT issues.
- User Training: Assist in educating users on basic technical tasks and best practices for cybersecurity.
- Asset Management: Help maintain an up-to-date inventory of IT equipment, including laptops, servers, and software licenses.
- Documentation: Assist in creating and maintaining technical documentation for processes, systems, and user guides.
- Collaboration: Work closely with senior staff to support ongoing projects.
- Event Support: Provide assistance and manage A/V and IT equipment in various event spaces and meeting rooms, ensuring functionality during events and handling regular maintenance.
Professional and Personal Qualifications
We are searching for a candidate who:
- Is currently in the beginning of the bachelor’s or master’s education in computer engineering, information technology, or other relevant field.
- Has basic understanding of computer networks, hardware, and software applications (e.g. Microsoft Office suite).
- Is proficient in written and spoken English.
- Is well organized and very high attention to detail.
- Has excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Works in a structured and independent manner, with a willingness to learn.
- Is able to work at flexible schedules, e.g. work outside the normal office hours
